Freefall

I really like Freefall and the author is clearly a smart person, which ends up just making it worse when bits of the author's more ridiculous beliefs intrude. I normally think of the engineering set as smart and rational, and it's actually really depressing to realize they're actually just good at a certain narrow area...and worse, are if anything more likely to assume they know more than they do and use the full brunt of their intellect to ignore what everyone else is saying. If neither education nor intelligence is the answer, what is?

Heard Bush's poll numbers have finally dipped conclusively below the 27% authoritarian chunk of the population. For a second I felt cheered, then I realized that's probably their normal behavior in response to an upcoming election, and means nothing.

(I've got to go through and answer all my email. Also, sleep.)
