The above quote is quite incorrect. I am a relatively new member of the fanfiction-writing community. This "subgroup" existed for a long time before I began to write fanfiction, and if you took the time to actually read my stories you would see that I disapprove of things like those. But, I can't exactly say that I dislike the story only because of the author's writing style, when it was being written for me.
I had nothing to do with the writing of those stories; they were in fact written for me for my birthday. And as long as the story can still make sense on its own, you have no right to say that it is in the wrong category.
