It's like watching a little kitten hiss at you! You just want to pick it up and cuddle it and coo, "Aw, who's an ineffectual widdle kitten? Who is? You are, yes you are!" Seriously, this is the best flamewar ever. Fanlib is awesome!
He completely undermines his attempt to make you feel insecure about the 'fic by telling everyone he only did 'cause he's butthurt over having his 'fic insulted. Of course, it was painfully obvious in the first place, but he could have at least tried.
"you must be at least a 11 year old! am 14 so dont fuc*en mess with me!!! b*tch! everyone on this darn site hates you so leave!!! and dont mess with me again!"
Aside from the squealing preteens, fanlib is the least wankiest place ever. There was a Harry Potter thread discussion thread, and I listed every damn issue that's been on fandom wank for discussion, and nothing. Everyone is sickeningly good natured! (there's a seething undercurrent of passive aggressiveness, but I can't seem to tap it reliably) So they just sort of flail ineptly in response to flames. I mean, ust look at this (http://www.fanlib.com/s/Love_and_War__A_Byakuya_love_story/314d38#comment6gqrs1)! How can you see that and not immediately start mocking the hell out of liliedove?
She isn't, and that barely even scratches the surface. She's got a poem up about how "Chritians" are oppressed by "Evolutinists", and then makes it clear she's not talking about those nonChristian freaks, Catholics. Apparently people look down on her when they realize her school has "Christian" in front of it - probably because they realize at the same moment that her education took place somewhere they used the bible as a science textbook.
It's actually a wonder people don't hate us more, really. My God, where are all the sane Christians? Do they hide? Or do they all just live in New Jersey?
I'm seriously considering joining this fray. The stupid at SPPf isn't nearly as passive-aggressive as I'd like.
I think it's that it doesn't normally come up. Religion tends not to be something people feel the need to immediately share with everyone, and because Christianity is the dominant culture, it's less likely that a situation will come up that they have a religious issue with.
For example, sane Pagans will often bring it up, because they need to find out if the other person is psycho. Sane Jewish people (which is somewhat redundant around here) will mention it eventually in regards to no, prefer not to have a cheeseburger or pepperoni pizza, no really they don't care how good it is. Sane Christians...maybe that subgroup who believe the Sabbath is on Saturday might occasionally run into a work issue, but even then, most people get both days off so it simply won't come up. I'm more likely to know the various minority faiths of those around me because they're more likely to run into situations where their faith sets them apart.
(There's also the issue of where does sane Christian end and we-don't-count-those-Catholic-fucks-as-Christian begin? I mean, the people in the Unitarian Church were all very sane Christians, and my Catholic family members seem to avoid screaming persecution complexes even with the whole LOL PEDO thing. But even sane people can have the opinion that both of those are a bit too far from real Christianity to count.)
Oh - if you join in the fight, can you point out, maybe in sparkly all-caps fifty-font bold, that a character doesn't need to be optimized? The whole "but even if ten year olds are able, they'll have more trouble!!!1" is making me twitch. A story is about people having trouble and overcoming them. If the ten year old will get lost and have an adventure, and the thirteen year old will successfully navigate the route without issue, which of them is better to write about? It's like people are allergic to actually having things happen in their story.
Only if you're okay with the little twits calling in a dozen friends to spam you with bitchy PMs. And screaming YOU FUCKING BITCH WHY AREN'T YOU MORE DAMN POLITE POLITENESS IS IMPORTANT CUNT all the time. It's like they're totally immune to irony or something.
AHAHAHA you're actually serious aren't you. Aw, poor precious baby, it must be so, so hard to live in a country where the president is Christian and has always been, the judicial system and Congress are made up almost exclusively of Christians, there are Christian holidays and blue laws on the books... Because there are maybe five whole atheists somewhere! WHICH IS SO HARD THEY OPPRESS YOU WITH THEIR EXISTENCE I KNOW. And, and, some are CATHOLIC too! CATHOLIC, and running around calling themselves CHRISTIAN THE HORROR how DARE THEY because THEY'RE NOT REAL CHRISTIANS AND SAYING THEY ARE IS OPPRESSING YOU AND NOT APOLOGIZING WHEN YOU TELL THEM THIS IS LIKE *TRIPLE* OPPRESSION in fact they probably get mad at you for some reason which is MORE OPPRESSION am I right? totally makes sense! How dare they! and then there are MUSLIMS EVERYWHERE OMG WALKING AROUND NOT BELIEVING THE SAME THINGS AS YOU THE OPPRESSION IT BURNS oh you poor poor poor dear my heart it bleeds for you. I cry a single emo tear at your HORRIBLE PLIGHT AND SUFFERING I really do.
Laughing. So hard. Can't breathe. God, that was juvenile, but it needed to be said.
To be perfectly honest, I was glad she'd brought that up because I'd been holding in a screaming rant after seeing her poem account of the persecution she faces. So when it appeared, I pounced.

He has a great name too.

Meanwhile, that is some of the busiest, seizurest, myspaciest layout horribleness I've ever seen.

...probably, someone else reported them to the moderator. That's sad. Maybe I'll start putting up author notes asking people not to harass my flamers.
(And yes, the layout is painful. It is matched only by the quality of most stories.)
