Robins, also Christmas
Today I saw the first robins of spring. We are very fucked. (The robins, for their part, were merely disgruntled.)
It's actually very nice right now - it finally snowed (normally, it snows by my birthday...) but now it's warming up again. All things considered that'd probably for the best. I'm hoping for a mild winter, as it seems we're going to get days of seventy-degree weather either way, and as damaging as warming is, it's nothing compared to going from warm to zero and back again every week. I'd rather we had a reliable snow cover, but there's no chance of that.
Also seasonal greetings as appropriate. I'm kind of getting into the whole War on Christmas idea - it really puts an extra bit of glee into every "Happy Holidays" I say.
I think I'm just about done with NaRe. I'm going to try to post a story on Christmas - probably an Unoriginality chapter - and I'm also turning over the concept of those awful legendaries-have-a-party fics to see if there's any way to make them work. If so, they'll celebrate New Years, because not even spite could make me write a Christmas fic after reading so many of the damn things.

This year it has to be all rainy and cold.

Actually our whole area's moving in the direction of rainy and cold thanks to global warming's ironic humor, except for the first half of winter, which is much, much warmer than it should be.

I'm very impressed with your effort for NaRe. It's an interesting idea, reviewing so much, but I don't have the energy for it. If I review too much I feel like I'm repeating myself and then I get lazy. Which isn't really fair on the authors I'm reviewing, meh.
That or I'm just lazy by nature. ;)
Anyway, Merry Christmas, regardless what you think of it. Just see it as a well-wish, since we don't really celebrate Christmas much either.

I intend to end the month by writing up an all purpose review and posting that on the forum.

Given the authors, I'm inclined to think fair would be to review them with nothing but READ A BOOK and a swat from a rolled up newspaper.
And no, I like Christmas fine. It's just I celebrate it in the traditional manner of "shiny stuff, greenness, loot, and food", and already hate the sort of person who gets up in arms about it being Jesus' birthday and how dare people send CHRISTmas cards about anything but OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS THE CHRIST WHO DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS YOU FILTHY SINNERS so it makes me happy to think that in some small way, I'm annoying them.
The thing is, this month contains my birthday, Hanukkah (the thing with where there are those pretty lit candle displays), and New Years, the last of which is the only one that has actual meaning to me. (As well as other celebrations I don't care about but seem to make other people cheerful and goodnatured, always a plus.) To me, December has always been the holiday month more than the Christmas month.
