...

Well, yesterday afternoon my beta actually ate something. I couldn't believe it, I kept waiting for him to spit it out. And it was his real food too. Maybe dropping the pea in did something, even though he didn't eat that.

So I get up today at almost twelve...and he's lying on the bottom of his tank not moving. I tap the plastic a couple times and one of his fins twitches. Then I realize the water's frigid and the heater isn't plugged in. I fix that and move the heater so it's next to him. After maybe thirty seconds he suddenly thrashes his way to the surface and manages to get his mouth out of water, then sinks back down and lies on his side again, his gills laboring. I keep poking him back to the surface until the water warms up and he can float.

So basically, my beta almost suffocated today. ::sigh:: The first month of the new year and it's filled with bad omens. January's the dying month, I suppose.

heh heh...our fish was looking so dead that we almost flushed him down the toilet...but I woke him up, we just forgot to feed him for a week so he decided to drown himself...stupid clyde...

Betas still are the coolest! Can we agree on that?

Ack! Don't flush fish, freeze them if you need to kill them. Flushing them is like locking you in an airtight room while mustard gas trickles in.

For the sake of my peace of mind...if your fish is sick and might just be almost dead, freeze it just in case. We do with all our sick fish.
