came voices aloft
I know just enough about Doctor Who to get the drums reference, but not much more, so I'm probably missing context here, but it works fine with just what's in the story. I like the way this is paced and how the drumbeat echoes through the whole story, and how you get into Dave's head as he's losing it. Your description is great, with sudden bursts of violent impulses that are creepy and intrusive. And of all people to go crazy to a drumbeat (and to deny anything's wrong every step of the way), Dave is certainly the one.

Refrain
Hm, these are a bit hit or miss. They're cute scene bits, but some of them come off as summarizing more than real events, or snippets that don't go anywhere.

Tea and Consequences
That was sweet, and it's nice seeing the PS universe connect up in ways like this. I loved John's characterization here - he's not hysterical or accepting, but a lower key state that feels a lot more reasonable. The conversation throughout has a nice dreamlike quality. Jade manages to be odd and herself without going so far as being silly and ruining the mood.
"I don't think anyone ever really forgets anything," said Jade, "not completely. It's all still there. Even if you can't quite put your finger on it; even if you never realize it. It's still there. And it can make a difference, too."
And I liked this ending idea. It's depressing to just think the John and Jade here and the things they say will fade away, so I like the idea that they'll live on somewhat in the other versions that will continue the game.

Seriously, all shall love froggle or despair.
