Wow, Aooooooooo has really broken itself good this time. It's lucky I was doing reviews this week.

And the Shiplympics have begun.

Some oddities I noticed:

No Mindfang/Summoner and Mindfang/Doloresa is still short a person
No Dad/Mom. No Mom at all, in fact.
Fandom seems to have gotten tired of keeping gay characters out of het ships.
Someone really should have nixed the doomed!John as a separate character thing, but maybe the Dave/John, Davesprite/John, and Davesprite/doomed!John teams will be able to keep off each other's toes.

I wonder how many teams will end up dropping out? A lot of people didn't get into the teams they originally wanted, after all. I'm hoping it's minimal, sometimes the better stuff is produced by people who aren't completely devoted because they're better at thinking of how to sell it.

Fandom seems to have gotten tired of keeping gay characters out of het ships. Hmm? Isn't Kanaya the only canonically gay character (as opposed to bi, straight, or unconfirmed)?

I think Farla's referring to Team Dirk<3Jane and Team Dirk<3Roxy. Dirk is pretty heavily implied to be gay, though like Kanaya he doesn't identify as such.

I wonder if there's a difference between reactions to gay men and lesbians. From my experience I would guess that they should mostly be differences in who decides to go against it, so maybe it's a matter of HSO's demographics.

Ah. I've been reading Dirk as maybe gay maybe bi, trying to avoid disappointment in my fondness for Dirk<3Jake.

Well, he seems to be not interested in girls and very into Jake, and his dismissal of being gay is how outdated labels are rather than that it's not an accurate one.

You could maybe squidge by with him being bi and not realizing it because he's only had one crush and it's Jake. But that's still making him effectively gay within the Scratched!kids dating pool.

Well, who's against it might vary but there's presumably overlap between the people who stick them in het pairings. On the other hand most of the Dirk/Girl seems to be pretty spiteful, so I'm not sure who the devoted shippers are made up of.
