I need to fuck with the tumblr fandom somehow. I just don't know how yet.

Well, you could anonymously tell them to drink bleach. From the rumors I hear, one would think that was your go-to.

The state of wank in fandom is really sad these days, isn't it? It's just death threats and/or rape threats, with an occasional stop off at trying to trigger someone because they must be lying about triggers if it doesn't fit into the accepted list of what triggers matter, or because violating some other SJ tenet make you deserve what you get.

Where's the sockpuppetry? The warring meta? The faux badfic? Where's the art?

It's true, every internet kerfuffle I've seen lately has gone from zero to rape threats with no stops in between. Depressing. I miss the charming insanity of yesteryear.

And it's not like things haven't been insane! Maybe it's the death throes of LJ casting a pall over everything.

This subculture deserves a better class of troll. Like the kind that conducts lengthy "metafic experiments" on fanfic forums. That was the best thing ever.

What's the Unwind tag on on tumblr like, anyway? I considered checking it out myself, but I'm not brave enough.

It's just a lot of people liking the book for being so great and also so balanced and also such great characters and let's quote choice bits! (Plus some posts about people relaxing.)

The thing with trolling needs to be a particular idea at the core. I can see my way to decent Homestuck trolling, but it'd be a pretty big investment of time and require writing in a genre I'm not familiar with, and at least OT fic full of pokemon is actually enjoyable to do. And that's something straightforward, where would I even begin for Unwind? Wither has a nice direct rebuttal: no, it's rape. But this book is the Atlas Shrugged of women's rights, it's presenting a funhouse version of reality to make itself right, and that's so much harder to talk about.

I'm so curious about your Homestuck idea now, but I don't want you to spoil it. Instead, you should just go ahead and do it! That way I'll know!

No specific idea, just the baseline "write a thing where character is depicted through hated fanon lens, lure readers in, final chapter where all was misinterpreted and they reveal their true colors".

I guess a secondary option would be to just leave anon hints everywhere that I'm totally doing that, causing everyone to look with suspicion upon all of those, but I don't really have the energy even for sockpuppetry. Why Doc Scratch Really Is Terrible Seriously Just Accept It meta seems more straightforward and productive dramamongering.

Your trollfic is always glorious, but that secondary option sounds HILARIOUS. But you're right, more meta might ultimately be more productive, and is definitely always welcome.

If you want to do the legwork on the secondary one I'm happy to take the blame. Given how twisty the cronusanon thing has gotten this conversation is probably already proof I'm going to or perhaps already doing it.
