New Year's Eve
It seems like a lot of terrible stuff is happening - so much more than the progress being made.
But I think that's only true because there really is progress and improvement and people are lashing out as they're made irrelevant.
And in some other ways America is getting worse in new and exciting ways! But we're not the standard other people are held against these days. Maybe things will just keep getting worse here, but in other countries they have functioning health care and unions and rights for people, and in most of the other terrible places they don't, they're looking at those countries and seeing they have a point. Okay, so there's laws in some places saying it's okay to murder people. And I think that's the swing of reactionary politics, I think it's swung as far as it can go and it's going to plummet back hard. And if it doesn't...then America will be terrible but the rest of the world will still get better.
Unless the environment kills us all.
