Ch8 Lucki

Chapter Eight of Lucki is up.

More than halfway done now, and all the remaining chapters are completely formatted.

Missed in the original shock over the story is one of the things I liked best about Lucki, that it's a trainerfic, and a larger plot, but one where the larger plot clearly is larger. Lucki never gets a sixth pokemon and never finishes collecting badges. When the story goes off the journey track into the real plot in earnest, it never manages, like most stories, to somehow return there for the end for the character, after so many other events, to accomplish their original goal.

I think I'd like to write stories like that more.

Hiya! Sorry for the random comment. I just came by to say I loved the Lucki story you posted on Serebii.Net, which was recommended to me by [livejournal.com profile] ember_reignited. The first.. lot of it was kind of hard to get through, but it definitely paid off at the end. If the one you posted on Fanfiction.Net is any different, I'd be willing to reread it. (Or maybe you're posting it to see what reaction you'd get? I'm not very good at figuring out these things.)

As an activist myself, I need to rethink some of my story ideas. Thank you for that. ^_^

Hi! The FFN version is marginally different, but not enough to justify rereading. Especially as none of the changes did anything about the dullness of the opening chapters (I'm really not sure how to fix that, or if it's even possible.) There's a new scene added, some typos corrected, and a countdown to zero, but that's it. I'm mainly posting for the reaction, and because I like to have all my work in one place. And I'm glad you found it worthwhile.

Heh, for some reason none of my trainer 'fics end with the trainers completing the League or training or whatever, because although I think it would be fun to end with a big, ridiculous final-battle face-smashing chapter, I really don't have the stamina to actually write my way through a league, or even most of the way through one. Tobias is probably the biggest failure of any of my characters... he ends up getting, what, like two medals and three badges, then manages to screw up everything on his way out...

My personal theory on why virtually no OT fics are finished. I certainly couldn't.

I hadn't even thought about Clouded Sky (update...), but that's pretty much the ultimate example of the journey just being the initial setup, and with the journey derailed well before the shift in earnest to the new plot, rather than after. Kudos! I should make a list of some kind.
