Finally got the cat to the vet. She has liver damage, not leukemia! Yay! The vet explained that her poor eating and drinking is because she probably feels sick all the time, so she gave us ultra concentrated cat food and a syringe. I figure we'll stop forcefeeding when she's strong enough to draw blood. We also bought some dry kitten food there too, since she liked their brand and kitten food is the highest calorie.

She already looks so much better than she did. And she's not wobbling when she walks now, either. As you see, she's alert, and she's cleaned herself off without needing a second bath. Also, she was trying to stalk the chickens from the porch earlier today.

The vet has no idea how old she is. She guessed middle age due to the discoloring in the left eye, but said her teeth look much younger and that it's impossible to tell more due to how awful she looks, so all we know is she's seven or less. Supposedly, she's four.

She's got so much character already! So glad she doesn't have that feline leukemia; that stuff's awful!

I hope the liver damage isn't bad, but I'm glad your (aunt, was it?) was able to get a hold of her before she went further downhill. Poor thing.

I still want to murder her original owners, though. What a terrible thing to do.

The liver damage should be quite temporary, the vet said her body had just partly digested it while she was starving so it needs to grow back.

I called about getting it prosecuted, but they want me to get the person who originally found her to call them and give all the details, so I have to do that first before they'll investigate. If it does make it into court I hope they get the book thrown at them, there's no way anyone could think this was anything but intentional.

Yeah. I hope so, too. Though sometimes the law can get skewed to the point people just look imbecilic for not putting two and two together because of some technicality. Just a couple weeks ago, there was a group of people who had hoarded cats in their house, and when they were discovered, there were over a hundred dead kittens at the residence, and even more cats/kittens that were alive and subsequently taken away from the owners.

People wanted to prosecute said people for animal abuse (for both the live and dead animals), but the law didn't allow some of the charges (animal abuse/cruelty against the dead kittens) to go forward because "the kittens were too decomposed to determine cause of death."

...Still makes me have a lot of faith in the law.

That's why I'm not too hopeful, but this should be relatively clear. It'll depend on if they actually follow up on things.

I'm so glad to hear things are better for your kitty. Liver troubles related to not eating can be difficult to treat in cats.

I lost my cat to fatty liver disease last year, and it was so hard. She just wouldn't eat.

I really hope things will go well for her ^^ She is so cute.

Thanks. I'm sorry for your cat.
