::::D

I got the plushie pack!

I'm really interested to see how this will end up.

(It's a shame they don't have more options for rewards. Like books, shirts, etc. Or a CD/online download of the comic itself, I'm sure a lot of people would chip in for that.)

Oh my gog. So expensive. I would straight up buy a plushie right out of the regular store, but that's like three months worth of food right there.

Yeah, but then, this isn't a plushie kickstarter but a way to drum up money for a different (and very pricey) project. They'll probably show up in the store eventually, since they're capable of producing them now and this will show if there's demand for them.

There is pretty much always demand for plushies. I've seen fanmade plushies from various fandoms selling for hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Now if Hussie could just find a cheap way to mass-produce those magnetic squiddle plushies, he wouldn't even need the kickstarter because that's basically the same as inventing a way to legally print money.

Wow a little over $280,000 people pledged already. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised.

And hnnnnnng want the plushie. @_@

(Anonymous) 2012-09-05 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
$328,000 now. Almost halfway there on the first day. Sheesh.

Mind you, the beginning and end usually get the most contributions. Still, since this was kind of a surprise, I would expect contributions to keep going like this for at least a while longer. And, if he offers more things or reveals some specific stretch goals, things could pick up further.

Well, looks like you got in at the right time. They've all gone.

Homestuck's so popular it can even sell an adventure game.

I'm curious to see what the final dollar amount will be-- homestuck fandom is vast and insatiable, but this might let us quantify its influence in comparison to, say, Penny-Arcade (probably less).

(Anonymous) 2012-09-05 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You would be wrong there. The Penny Arcade project reached $528,144 after a little over a month: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pennyarcade/penny-arcade-sells-out?ref=live

If that's the one you're referring to.

This is only the second day and the Homestuck kickstarter's gotten to 575k

Oh shiiiii! That's incredible, I thought PA had goals into the millions. I guess they didn't offer much value for money anyways.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-06 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, basically all they were offering was to remove the ads on the website and to revamp the web design.

(Also, 700k goal reached. Second day. Jegus.)

[identity profile] farla.livejournal.com 2012-09-06 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
They also had rewards of a game, but one most of their supporters had already bought, and most of their rewards were focused in the lower end.

But mostly, I think people didn't care about ads. They're easy to block if they annoy you, and Penny Arcades' ads tend to be pretty-looking. It's hard to compare.

I'm holding off to see if one of the later prizes is something I really want. If not, I'll just put in the fifteen dollars for the game itself. But I've had that page open in a tab for the past two days just happily watching the number climb.

[identity profile] farla.livejournal.com 2012-09-06 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm usually more for waiting and thinking about it, but people were already buying the snoutpack. It's actually really easy to drop or change your contribution, so if I changed my mind I wouldn't be stuck with it.

[identity profile] ember-reignited.livejournal.com 2012-09-06 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You love both Terezi and dragons, so that seems like a good decision on your part.

Which one are you hoping to get?

[identity profile] farla.livejournal.com 2012-09-07 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It is pricey, but I really do like all of the pack, so yeah, sticking with it.

I was originally thinking Pyralsprite but actually Lemonsnout's colors are nice too, so I'll be happy for either!
