So Keeper seems to have abruptly burned out, his INTERNET LAWYER EXTRAORDINAIRE friend got distracted by something shiny, and now it's down to Soaringdragon43, who showed up after Keeper linked his friends to complain that I'd reviewed a good fic harshly but ignored all the worse ones around it, which was exceptionally untrue given I'd literally reviewed everything around it. As the discussion goes on, we discover Soaringdragon43 is a) a flamer and b) actually part of an entirely FFN group for flaming. But it's okay because it all started as part of harassing someone for daring to post a story using the same idea as one of their friends.

I point this out mainly so I can go on to ask why people always bitch at me about how evil I am for being mean to the innocent authors. Seriously. Is it so much to ask that your enemies tell you their actual reason for hating you, and not one made up on the fly?

There must have been some kind of message that went out over that discussion forum to suddenly stop talking about you, because it's like somebody hit a light switch or something. One second it's all, "Farla's a stupid bitch lol!" and the next they appear to have forgotten you entirely. My guess is Keeper told them in private to stop for some reason, or they've decided to take the discussion somewhere moderately less obvious. Either that, or they've got one heck of a hive mind going, because that's the smoothest topic-change I've ever seen--not even one uninformed person running along behind going, "Hey wait, but whatever happened with...?

Anyway, I'm guessing that they accuse you of being evil to innocent authors because the stories you review are the ones that they think are good, and therefore you're just a bully who wants to drive off all the good authors. Flaming is clearly justified for those stories that even they can recognize as being really bad, those that affront their beliefs in some fashion, or those written by authors who are perceived as having slighted them in some way. However, because you have the gall to not share their opinions on all stories, you are clearly an agent of the dark side and must be eliminated.

(And did you notice that in that forum Soaringdragon belongs to they expressed desire for Yami to join?)

He probably did, now that you mention it, since it's around the same time as I point out that they seem to be the obsessive ones and around the time he starts apologizing and saying he should never have been talking about me behind my back.

Oh, how I wish it were anything that logical. I think I would need to start a list to keep track, but Cappybara's reason is that his pokemon revolution fic way outstrips mine and/or he's pissed off about the reviews I gave it, Lolita's infuriated because I didn't reply to her reviews enough and/or that I'm not active enough as a writer, and Abysswing had some run-in with me sometime long ago. The problem is, giving support to the hive mind theory, that they tend to repeat each others' explanations as part of the general circle-jerk of agreement.

And yeah, I WTFed at that, though it's perfectly consistent with their flame group being more about dogpiling and attacking acceptable targets than actual standards. But there's no way Yami will come anywhere near FFN, since I'm there and her special mod friend isn't.

The person suddenly decided to stop replying, and just when I was getting into the fray, too! Very frustrating, I'd been looking forward to a nice little 'discussion' on idiotic behaviour. (Complete with examples of idiotic behaviour by the other side, of course.)

And no, the group's linked in the very next entry. Really, could you just try to pay a little attention? Admittedly, some of your members do flame as well, but I was really going for the insanity of being part of a group with that as a mission statement.

I know way more than I want, by which I mean dear god she will not stop talking. She came over and started to talk, then she tells me she's flaming, then she tells me that she's part of a flaming group, then she tells me all her friends who she's cheering on are even worse, then she tells me that this is all justified because they're harassing someone who's totally innocent because of some delusion that only their friend gets to write a type of story. Really, the moral here is that sometimes people need to stop talking.
