A little while ago, commenting on the soon-to-return-sans-writers Daily Show/Colbert Report and how they were needed to follow the election, Mom said, "It makes you think there's some sort of conspiracy to keep them off the air during campaign season."

It's the sort of thing that's a crazy paranoid theory. She wasn't serious, but she wasn't joking. I didn't think it was a joke either. I thought, probably not because they don't really have reason, not because no one would or could orchestrate things like that the way I should.

You know sales tax? That thing, it's a tax on goods the government mandates that pays for various government programs? They're letting the stores keep it. Not all of them, just big ones like Walmart. They're pocketing the sales tax. The tax consumers pay for government services is being paid to the stores.

It's not on the news.

So how can you really think anything else isn't possible?

Another warm January. It's a good thing NASA maintains global warming isn't a big deal or anything.
