What's up with those graphics next to everything at Fanfiction.Net? And what do the different colors for people icons mean?

Which pictures do you mean? I went on and didn't notice anything different, except for the icons on the forums, and there's a key that describes what those mean at the bottom of the page, so I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about. Unless it's the little icons they've stuck next to things on profiles?

No, I just wasn't paying attention and didn't scroll down.
...fuck, I'm a fanatic now? Dammit, FFN.

But there are little graphics everywhere now. There's even a little open book thingy by the FFN slogan. Why is there a book thingy? What does it signify? What's going on?

It signifies that FFN has bought into the "more graphics = more professional and sophisticated site!" myth. One day you'll open the page up and it'll all be in Flash...

Also, it has the added benefit of discouraging the dial-up riffraff from joining up.

Of course. Nothing says professional like random clipart. Yay progress!

I especially love that "normal" and "regular" are two separate categories. And they indicate that the average FF.net user stays on the site for less than a year. I've been doing it wrong.
