I don't know. I think there's one factor you failed to control for: you asked the voles to guess. In doing so, you made it into a game, which is something fic readers understand more easily than simple active reading.

Also, anyone who's guessing anything other than Metwtwo after the Cinnabar part is still hopelessly stupid. I get the confusion about who "she" is among people who haven't heard the radio drama or watched the "Origin of Mewtwo" short, but beyond that there's really no excuse.

Well, true. But it's a better way of discouraging "I think I know, but I'm not saying yet!" or not mentioning until ten chapters in. Also, fun.

Besides, I'm sure it's offset by the fact at least one reader seems under the impression they're competing with each other or something and so is trying to pick something other people haven't said. And Warlorn-chan's existence. (Hoothoot? What the fucking fuck?)
