Bah, comics

Scans_daily is developing in depressing ways. Basically, they keep getting accused of being a torrent site, so the mods keep making more and more restrictions on posting. It's dumb because they're going to keep being accused of being a torrent site as long as they're posting anything, and it's not like anyone in the industry will change their minds if the mods make it so you're not allowed to link to scanlations, since they never cared about manga/other language comics in the first place.

Combined with their steadily more restrictive rules on what you're allowed to say, it makes the place a lot less interesting to read.

I'm sure part of it is an attempt to combat the negative attitude, but the negative attitude is a lot of why I like reading the posts.

Oh, also, is LJ being weird about comments to anyone else?

You're the third person on my flist who seems to be having problems with comments, so it's most likely them. Hopefully, it'll be resolved soon.

As for Scans_daily, huh. I was wondering if someone would try to revive it after it was taken off LJ forever and a day ago. Thanks for the mention, even if it's getting suckier now.

It's been near continuously existing - they immediately set up shop over on insanejournal, then moved to dreamwidth a little while ago.

A lot of the changes make sense, but tend to be taken too far, or else are an attempt to placate the industry people who are going to keep on hating them no matter what, or else are an attempt to address criticism from fans who are going to keep seeing any dissent as a sign they're all haters.

Oh, God, the e-mails are coming now. Big time. And worse, they're coming dated. They're strewn across the last few days of my inbox in a way that makes weeding out all the unread messages a chore. I knew this would happen... I've got about 40 of them coming... Make it stop! Make it stop!
