The National Guard wants me. So much that they sent a letter explaining that the National Guard is not the same as the active, actually-fighting-in-a-war army, and just requires a couple days out of the year in return for awesome benefits. And signing up part time, they explain, won't lock me into anything as it's possible to change to active as they'll do the moment I sign up. And I can get a signing bonus.

Sure, I'll get practically nothing in comparison to the real army. Sure, the army won't even give me equipment or decent training before throwing me onto the front line. Sure, I don't get anything much for, y'know, actually getting killed or injured, and I'll have to repay the 'bonus' they gave me. Sure, the National Guard's casualty rate is horrifying due to aforementioned lack of equipment or training. But it's okay, because the National Guard is totally not the real active army. In the actual army, they make some effort to keep you alive.

If the army, if the government, if any of them cared at all, they wouldn't be recruiting for the National Guard now. If we're putting the National Guard into the army, if we're treating them the same as normal soldiers, we should only recruit for the army. Instead, recruiters are lying to trick extra people into joining.

You know what? Fine. I hate America.
