Pretty sure one is a hen! We were worried they were both roosters. Today I'm teaching them to dig for bugs. Brought them over to the more foresty section of the yard by the compost, with all the nice soft dirt, and made a hole with a stick to get them started.
I think what I like most about chickens is just how happy they are about everything. Even when they're being hateful monsters they just seem so pleased about it. And when they're sunbathing in a hole they look more content than a dozen cats.
I'm really looking forward to getting eggs again, buying eggs really bothers me these days. I realize mammals are more intelligent and deserving of sympathy, but I don't have a pig, I have chickens.
Also, my pawpaw isn't dead despite me-not-being-around related abuse, which is great because I've been babying the thing for years now. It seems like plastic does stop UV light, so hopefully it'll grow now.
Expect something childmurder games related later today.
