Have you tried putting commercial water hardeners into the water? And how do you tell what gender a snail is? Poor beta, when my fish get sick, they almost always die, even with the salt water treatment. Not many fish vets here unfortunately. I used to have a beta too, then my sister thought the tank looked empty and a couple of my guppies in with him. When I came home from school they were all dead. -_-
