And he returns again
Mar. 2nd, 2010 09:23 pmThe illustrious Daniel 'Chiryu' Ernston, longstanding Pokemon fandom member since January, finally finished with Unoriginality...we hope...has moved on to discover my forum.

It's hard to pick a best quote. Contrary to what you think, the English language does not have any hard and fast rules. Whatever the masses use, becomes the language. (Which is why our language has "degraded" into text speak. It's just a simpler, more efficient way of saying things.) Language evolves over time, and this is just one of the (laughably minor) changes that has occurred. is a strong contender for criminal misunderstanding of the point, but I think this pithy little bit is the true winner:
[No, people have been going around telling everyone that it's got to be Pikachu, and that's why there's such uniformity.]
Have you ever wondered why people have been going around telling people such? Perhaps because the convention was set before you were even around these parts.

Date: 2010-03-09 05:19 am (UTC)I've been reading pokemon fanfic since before I even had an account. I've been active in the fandom for about a decade. I've been arguing about pokemon names for years. A great deal of that argument references fandom convention. A great deal of it has been people telling me to do it the other way and then giving their reasoning. The thread you're posting in is almost as old as your account, and it's referencing, in the opening post, the fact I have been arguing this for some time previously. Despite this, you somehow still came to the conclusion I'd missed something so obvious that you thought of it a couple minutes after reading the thread and needed you to explain it to me.
Somewhat of a theme of yours, really.

I won't press the issue further. o_o
