I'm thinking of reviewing Aiya Quackform's story The One Drop (not tonight though, I want to get some sleep). I'll probably be lynched afterward.

Someone I know had an author email her to ask if she'd add his story to her C2 so it'd get attention, even though her C2 was for original trainer stories and his wasn't even related to that. In an unrelated comment, pronouns rule.

And I need to stop waiting months between emailing Dragonfree about her story, so I'll get on that now.

Also, my cat's missing. We noticed this early because he's supposed to go to the vet tomorrow. He went out yesterday and hasn't come back. We've been really worried and my dad and I went out to look for him. (We delayed on that for a while because we were nervous he might've been hit by a car...) My mother mentioned a few hours ago that last year he missed his vet appointment by disappearing too, so we're a little less worried now.

Heh, I read your reviews and her reply to them... I kind of felt like she was missing the point on some of the things you mentioned, though. o_x Her character-protectiveness is really irritating.

Oh, I just noticed that. Now I'm a little pissed off.

She emailed me before when I'd only reviewed three chapters, an email that was the exact same thing as she just posted, down to "Electra's explanation is reassuring. I do hope you aren't going to get out of this by having Mari be such an incredible trainer to her castform that you have her be able to ignore all that, though."
- Don't worry, I won't! If you catch me doing that, though, slap me back to my senses!

Then I got a second email that was just three general points about my other two reviews. I emailed back and didn't get a response.

Now she posts that huge thing in her reviews when I know full well she's got my email.

Grr...and again she blows off stuff I've said by 'it's only your opinion' without telling me what she thinks is my opinion and what isn't! I'm going to try emailing again. I'm especially annoyed by the 'you don't know my story better than me!' whining. Obviously I don't. But if the very first character your special grandchild of a gym leader who gets amazing scores in school that are so awesome she gets a special starter and a special pokedex and also gets a bunch of incredibly special items meets is the daughter of a company that seems more important than Silph and Devon combined and is fabulously wealthy and has her own special (and unnecessary) gadget, I think I'm justified in saying I see a bit of a pattern developing. And I notice she didn't say that the other characters she'll introduce will be any less extreme.

I felt like slapping her, that's for sure.

If there's one thing that annoys me in writing, it's when someone expects you to know something that isn't there. A general rule I live by: If it can't be proven by available text, you can't use it in your argument.

As for arguments, hers was a pretty typical whiny, know-it-all, sue-writer argument.

Hm. Well, come to think of it, she did say that if she disregarded what Electra says about Castform (weak, unable to influence the weather properly) by just having Mari be such an awesome trainer I could slap her back to her senses, and low-and-behold, she writes Castform mastering Rain Dance in the middle of her first trainer battle against a far stronger pokemon who she fights almost to a stalemate. You can slap her for me.

Oh, and: not only is a lot of what Aiya Quackform said in her review-reply not in the text, the text actually contradicts it (or, if Castform had battle experience, why did Mari need to train her to hit *rocks* and why did she act like the fight against the seedot was her first battle? and so forth.) But no, bad me for thinking that. I'm acting like I know her story better than her, which means I'm a bad, inattentive, opinion-based reviewer. I must atone for my sin by praising the next five fanfics I run into.
