Was having pretty interesting dreams on a technical level. I was slightly awake and dreaming of being slightly awake - that is, my eyes were closed but I was looking out at an idea of my room. Actually, it was how my room looks like sitting up in bed, with the window being in the center of my vision. I would "close my eyes" and hallucinate, and then "open" them to see the window when I didn't like how it was going. The hallucination was the usual stuff I get when I'm still mostly conscious, and I was exploring how detailed I could get visual images. For a while I was flashing through words too fast to read properly and it was a bit frustrating because I was interested what words I was familiar enough to generate images of, and spent a while thinking about how it's possible to record dreams so if there was some way to record the pictures so I could look at the individual frames, which was another tipoff I was actually thinking while asleep.

I was also trying to picture detailed scenes, which worked surprisingly well, but if my attention wandered it got muddy and then a bit ominous, because it'd just be something indistinct and dark with eyes, and I'd then "wake up" to nip that in the bud because if I figured if I got creeped out I'd have nightmares. The window scene started getting overwritten in color hallucinations and I figured that was a sign I was so tired it was happening even with my eyes open. (I have been getting very little sleep.)

Throughout this, I kept getting woken up and rolling over to try to get more blanket over my head, but I was keeping my eyes closed because experience is that it's the best way to get back to hallucinating instead of waking up all the way. I apparently did well enough that I didn't realize I shouldn't always be seeing the same image if I had just rolled over. Finally managed to actually be asleep for a while until the shouting got really loud.
