Today I saw someone had reviewed a story just to disagree with my review.

Someone of dubious intelligence wrote:

The Digital Sneasels, I love your story! I can definitely not wait for more! This review is mainly to point out some of the WRONG things in farla's review:

1. Most stories are utterly un-original even published authors stories are highly un-original but it still keeps my attention. It isn't the story, it's the style you write it in.

To those wondering, let me post a segment:“Okay! Go… uh whatever you are.” Liam Yelled. Then a small red bunny appeared but its back legs were springs which it stood on. Also it had small wings. Then Liam took out his Pokédex. “Koroko the Spring Pokémon. This Psychic, Flying type loves to bounce around. Also the shock of its bounces sharpen it psychic powers.” Liam’s Pokédex droned. That's some amazing style there, don't you think?

2. Dialogue doesn't always end in commas they do end in periods to say something pointedly or quickly/fast (style of writer enters here as well). if you had noticed, the Digital Sneasels does in fact use commas in his dialogue.

No, he doesn't. All his dialogue either ends in a period, an ellipsis, a question mark or an exclamation mark. And he capitalizes after all of these. The freakiest thing about this is that if you check the reviewer's stories, she actually does know the comma rule.

3. Even though Pokemon isn't a proper noun, it still is a noun, plus it is Tm/R/etc to the name of Pokemon. As it is a name (for example, Jane, you must user a capital.) you must therefore capitilize the p.

You know, I remember being confused about the difference between nouns and proper nouns. After all, if names are capitalized, isn't 'elephant' the name of elephants?

I was also in first grade at the time.

4. We all make mistakes okay and pointing out his spelling mistakes is a little much for a flame, if you read my stories you'd have picked up typos and the like, if you don't like it done to you, don't do it to others

Spellcheck.

And I *like* people pointing out typos. Because then I can fix them.

5. Just because you don't like this story or her/his style of writing technique, does NOT give you an allowance to whine!

... Speaks for itself, really.

I find this story very interesting and I want to know what happens next!

I really doubt she even read the story, judging by her attempts to defend it. I think she just saw the review.

I noticed that and wanted to comment, but forgot. *deep shame*

I tend to be lenient on the Pokémon/pokémon issue, since it is a name of a game/company and I make the mistake myself, but the other issues are just ludicrous.
Stupidity is obviously running rampant on ff.net, it's sad really.

I pray the reviewer isn't a native Englisgh-speaker. Don't you?

Personally, I'm under the impression that the word Pokemon is always capitalized, because it's always capitalized in the strategy guides. But that's just me. It doesn't bother me when people don't capitalize it....

Anyway, pointing out someone's spelling mistakes is NOT too much for a flame. It's not enough for a flame, actually. Can you imagine someone saying, "It's 'placid,' not 'plaqssidd,' you fool! Tremble before my helpfulness! ROAR!" Neither can I.

Technically, Pokemon, like Pepsi, Coke and Lego, should always be capitalized because it's a copyrighted word, along with slogans (Gotta Catch 'Em All is the proper capitalization, for example). (Technically, you also should add (TM) or (R) at the end too) I tend not to capitalize it myself because to me it's just a word, although I go through periods where I'll capitalize. Plus I'm not too respectful of copyrighted words for whatever reason.

However...let's imagine that in the pokemon world there's a game called Animals, where you can collect things like Cats and Dogs. If you're writing a story mentioning this, the words should be capitalized, because in the universe of the story they're copyrighted. And pokemon, meowth and growlithe *shouldn't* be capitalized because in the universe, they're not copyrighted. The capitalization should reflect the universe/culture's system. If you're writing a story where people capitalize words like Mother in all instances (the Mother, his Mother), just because people don't in your world doesn't mean you shouldn't for them. And vice versa.

(Admittedly this is all a rather obscure and intricate explanation, but it's just something that bugs me.)

Thanks.

Oh. Thank you. That clears it up for me.

(I meant to type "English" in my last comment, not "Englisgh." Speaking of mistakes....)
