History

"So you see that the gap between the two groups, white and black has – yes?"

"I don't think there's really any gap. I mean, look at all the black people playing basketball."

-

"What do you think the main point of the article you just read is?"

"That, like, the black people, when they got freed, wanted way too many rights."

Latin

"You can't turn that in yet. Finish your test. I can see blanks."

"But I don't know how to do those."

"Don't be lazy."

Math

"Um…excuse me, why didn't I get points here? I got the answer right."

"Yes, but you didn't show all your work."

"Why do you need to see my work?"

"So I can give you half credit if you get it wrong."

"But I got it right."

"Yes."

"So why did I lose points?"

"Because you didn't show your work."

"But why do you need to see my work?"

"So I can give you half credit if you get it wrong."

Sociology

"Um, excuse me, don't you think this article is a little biased?"

"Everything has a bias."

"But this guy-"

"-Is giving a different perspective on the Rodney King incident than you usually hear. He's an African-American."

"But you only gave us one article. We haven't heard the first perspective yet. We haven't even seen the footage. All we did was watch a video about black people rioting and attacking other minorities."

"Yes, but the article is even-handed. It's conservative, but it's written by an African-American."

"It says the media only reported it because it's liberal, implies the black guy was asking for it and that the riots are just because black people are stupid and violent, that a gang of policemen beating a drunk guy into the ground is reasonable, and that it's all okay because they didn't beat the other three guys in the car, and that this proves race had nothing to do with it!"

"Which are all valid points. I tried to choose an even-handed article. Everything written is biased. There isn't any information that doesn't have a bias."

English

"So what do you think the point of the text was?"

"Well, in the last story the other character turned out to be imaginary, so I think that's what's true here."

"That's one interpretation. And you?"

"I think that the other character is imaginary. He's quiet, like the imaginary character in the last story."

"Certainly an interpretation…anyone else? Yes?"

"Well, I think the text clearly shows the other character is imaginary."

"That's a view... yes?"

"I think what Matt said is true. To elaborate on the point, I think that here on page twenty-seven where it says he was pale, just like the character in the last story, is the first conclusive proof of the character being a figment of his imagination."

"Anyone else? Yes?"

"I think that the other people before me are right. The line here, where it talks about how passive the second character is, just like how the last story's imaginary character was passive, proves that the second character is imaginary."

"Certainly one perspective…anyone else?"

"Well, I personally think that the second character is imaginary…"

Psychology

"Autistic children don't form any attachments with people. They don't notice faces, which is why they have such poor eye contact, and they don't really notice people's presence or differentiate between people. Instead they often fixate on some inanimate object. They're very hard to teach because of this. It's very hard to get them to look at you and get their attention."

Environmental Science

"See, genetic drift works like this. Say there are six birds and they fly to an island, and four of those birds have red beaks and two have blue beaks. Because of genetic drift, all the birds on the island will end up having red beaks after a few generations."

"But that's not how it works at all. It's about probability and chance."

"No, see, four of the birds have red beaks, so there are more of those genes."

"But the entire point of genetic drift is that any trait can by chance become-"

"I don't think you understand.

"But the blue beaks have an equal chance of reproducing-"

"No sweetie, see, there are four birds with red beaks, and only two with blue beaks."

"But genetic drift is random. The most common characteristics don't necessarily become dominant. That's what you said five minutes ago when you were reading from the book. Any trait. It could be any trait-"

"No no no, you don't understand. See, once the small group arrives at the island, natural selection takes over. Genetic drift is just when the group gets there."

"What's migration then?"

"We're not talking about migration right now, we're talking about genetic drift."

Creative Writing

"Your poem was very good."

"Oh. Thanks."

"I spent ten minutes on the internet looking for where you plagiarized it from."

"Oh...thanks."
