O-kay, so then, what is environmentalism? Because it is a movement, that involves the environment and changing the way people treat the environment through politics and all that happy stuff. At least, that's what my Environmental Science book says. Environmentalists study the environment in order to save it.

And global warming? What's wrong with that? I mean, I know what's wrong with it, but what's wrong with the google search? Did it give bad data, because I'm not seeing it....

But the focus of environmentalism isn't to be a special interest group trying to control Congress, it's to act for the greater good. The phrasing is identical to that of a Christian Right movement trying to ban abortion or something. Besides that, much of environmentalism is done by groups, who choose to act in better ways and educate others, not strong-arming Congress. Basically, the focus is off.

The google search pops up a bunch of sites debating the issue, or else putting it in indefinite terms. That any sites like that still exist by this point is depressing, that they're near the top of the list more so.

Mm-hmm. Pro-lifers are not a lifeform I understand, but especially when it's other girls going "YOU ARE EVIL FOR WANTING TO HAVE CONTROL OVER YOUR LIFE" I die a little inside.

ERA. Almost passed here at one point. It says that both sexes have equal rights. The girls were all like: OMG it'll be used for boys b/c it doesn't say WOMEN!!!! Then they'll control abortion and draft us and make us fight for them. T_T Plus, leik, women aren't strong enough to be soldiers, except for the ones that volunteer, because that gives you superpowers or some crap.

And the boys were all like: ??? Okay, okay, we won't oppress you. Jeez, sorry. I guess we didn't think this through.

I'm actually not all that well-informed when it comes to global warming, much to my eternal shame. I've watched around half of An Inconvenient Truth and read what's in the mainstream media, and that's about it.

It's completely true, there are and will continue to be massive repercussions and disasters because of it, and every prediction scientists make is a severe underestimation of the actual damage (follow the news a bit and you'll quickly become familiar with the phrase "faster/worse/more damaging than our predictions").
