Left Alone, now on FFN.

Notes:
Adalia - God is just
Noah - Adrift, means "comfort".
Adrian - Rosemary's baby, 'Ad' repetition.
Daniel Gottfrey - Daniel means "God is my judge", Gottfrey means 'god's peace'. Would have been "Gottfried", but that had some unintended connotations, and I didn't want to use d rather than tt for similar reasons.
Celia Passeri-Gottfrey - "Heaven" and "Sparrow", Italian surname. (the hyphen means she is clearly an evil feminist)

The names are meant to relate to the story, but they're not neither directly prophetic nor inverted.

The entire family scene is heavily based on my own, right down to the hyphenated surname. (I remember having a burst of insight when I was in middle school that my mom's last name likely made people think she'd gone through a divorce, and possibly that I and my brother weren't her kids. Later, I realized it probably made people think she'd gone through a divorce OR was an evil feminist about to go through a divorce.) All the characters are composite, though - Noah's dialogue is my dialogue when I was that age, and I'm more likely to be the one saying things like, "Right, and they don't really have any nukes either." And some of it's invented entirely to fit what I want to happen in the story - my parents are both the same age so there's no way my mother could reasonably have a kid as young as Adrian around. (While she still hasn't gone through menopause for some reason, the support structure for actually carrying a kid has kind of...detached.)

I think the key with this kind of thing is using your life to supply details to improve the world's complexity, but keeping that subordinate to what would work best.

It also makes it that amusing when someone reviews commenting that "It sounds like you're establishing the heart issues and the kind of household Adalia's from before "it" happens." What's ironic is that far from having established the household, the reviewer probably misinterpreted - Adalia's mother is dead, not divorced, and this is Celia's first marriage. They're also Christians who go to church each week, with stepmother Celia being the most religious. Stepparents and intellectualism =/= god-hating atheist.

(And as a sidenote, I just got a second Fanlib comment about "seeing more of the characters" on the Lot and his daughters fic. Either people don't recognize the story, or they're hinting they want to read graphic incestuous rape.)

I like your disclaimer. Hoping to avoid a Pokémon Revolution redux, I see.

If I've learned nothing else, it's that there is not enough bold caps lock in the world to avoid that. But I feel I should make an attempt anyway.
