...Clearly, she is the inspiration for Cruella Deville. Before she took up shooting wolves from helicopter, she drove around shooting people's dogs and skinning them for her wardrobe. The massive amount of money spent on getting her new outfits was an attempt to disguise this fact.

It requires no weirder a timeline than the idea Obama is named after Saddam Hussein, and is therefore totally plausible.
