The angry returns! Still plenty polite, but there's a healthy mix now. Recurring themes: pokemon shouldn't be capitalized, and you shouldn't start a new paragraph with a new speaker. Yes, often together like that. Another recurring theme is "I was on another site and they were okay with it therefore it's right". No one's named Serebii yet, but I feel I should blame them preemptively. Especially since, with Bush leaving office, I need to wring all the use of preemptively I can get out of it.

Today's spotlight, however, goes to the cubbie123457, who emailed me to say my review for another person's story was uncalled for because:

1) Some of the stuff that I mentioned was true, but not important, so I shouldn't mention it.
2) Some of the stuff might have a good reason that neither of us are aware of.
3) Some of the stuff might not have a good reason and just be thrown in at their whim, which is their right as an author.
4) It's not as bad as some of the other stories in the category and
5) Regardless, putting up fanfic of any kind is intrinsically a plus to the universe and should be mindlessly praised in the hopes the author will make more.

Ie, they want to fuck pokemon and have no standards on the subject so long as it contains that crucial pokemon/human bit. See this? This is why furries get consigned to their internet ghettos. It's not so much avoiding the concept as it is the shitty manifestations of it. When your stance is that all that matters is it involves your fetish and should be encouraged no matter what other flaws are there or how easily fixed they are, you are a blight upon the universe.

Meanwhile there's Celebi96, also arguing with me over another person's review. At least it's more relevant, as in this case the issue is the person posted this random little aside about his fanfic that makes no sense outside of it. But he seems to be connected to other crappy not-particularly-fanfics, so this argument seems like it's going to snowball.

Oh, and someone else emailed me to lecture me about drabbles. See, I told them their story wasn't developed enough, so they explained to me what a drabble was (badly/inaccurately to boot) because obviously not knowing that is the only reason I would have said that, and when I replied that's totally irrelevant to the whole not-technically-a-complete-story business, said yeah and that they accepted the initial criticism which had nothing wrong with it, then lectured me on how I had no right to force my definition of what a drabble was on them.

"Reading comprehension: stop failing at it. I said it was yet another one written for you, followed by blaming you for the stories. Arguing you are not in any way involved BECAUSE they are birthday fics being written for you that you then compliment and encourage is stupid."

Try understanding what I'm writing. Then you might get somewhere. What I said was that I DID NOT WRITE THEM, so saying I was responsible for this "subgroup" is entirely inaccurate. I had no hand whatsoever in their writing, and I complimented them because they really were good stories. Try reading the story instead of critiquing it and you might actually like one or two.

"No, they didn't. Perhaps they did to you because you were already familiar with the background and didn't know what they would look like to someone who wasn't filling in the blanks. Again, if you want to make an argument, you have to actually have some sort of reason and example beyond stamping your foot and saying it again in a louder voice."

Only one of those three was in any way connected to my stories. And that one still gave all the necessary facts for someone who had not read my stories to understand it. Or, as an alternative, they possibly could read my stories first and then read it.

"I would appreciate it if you weren't whiny and stupid, and could figure out that if you want to talk to me a different way, you could try contacting me a different way, instead of contacting me in one place and insisting I go seek you out a different way and OMG stop MAKING you come back to talk by RESPONDING TO WHAT YOU WROTE how DARE I."

I did not instigate this debate. You did. By flaming those stories, and then by coming here and making fun of me you began it. If you really want an argument that badly, you can come say things straight to me instead of talking about me behind my back. Oh, and I am in no way "whiny" or "stupid"; in fact I am the opposite of both. Speaking out against injustice is not "whiny". And you cannot call me stupid if you have no idea who I am or what I am really like.

"So what you're (ineptly) saying is that someone sent you the link to both this and my forum? At which point you clung desperately to your ignorance, made sure to avoid finding out anything more, then decided that obviously, despite knowing nothing about this, you were totally sure this was some super secret site I didn't want you or anyone else to know about?"

This actually made me laugh. What I'm saying is that I really don't care about all the (likely egotistical) paraphernalia that you have in your profile, and I don't care about your stories or pretty much anything else you do besides the flaming. No, no one gave me any links. I found this place on my own; I have my ways, but that's beside the point.

My advice to you is to read a story and list everything you liked as well as what you disliked. Make sure you tell people what you think in a respectful way. Maybe you don't care about other people, maybe you only care about yourself, but let me tell you that people will respect you more if you're nicer, and it'll make you feel better, too, when you give someone friendly advice.

What I said was that I DID NOT WRITE THEM

Exactly. This is why your argument is failing. I didn't say you wrote all the stories in the category, I said you were responsible when referring to a story written for you. Your response to this is to ignore this in favor of trying to convince me that you didn't write them

and I complimented them because they really were good stories

Right...

But, I can't exactly say that I dislike the story only because of the author's writing style, when it was being written for me.

Consistency: another failing of yours. Or are you calling in writer/friends of yours, and worried they'll take offense? Either way, seriously stupid when the post is just a few above the current one.

Or, as an alternative, they possibly could read my stories first and then read it.

Hint: if your argument, over and over, is that "it's totally understandable without reading the other story except they probably should", your argument sucks. Also, you're making the whole ego-boost attention grab more blatant each time.

If you really want an argument that badly, you can come say things straight to me instead of talking about me behind my back.

Uh, you do realize that my post here is just mentioning that you're arguing with me, right? No? And you wonder why I'm calling you stupid. When you're stupid while talking to someone, people will occasionally say to each other that you're being stupid. Treating it like some huge shock is, wait for it, also stupid.

Speaking out against injustice is not "whiny".

Oh my god you are adorable.

No, no one gave me any links. I found this place on my own; I have my ways, but that's beside the point.

Okay. So instead of getting a link from my profile, you went to hardcore stalker mode to get easily accessible information. Getting to the same place through the longer and stupider method is not something you should brag about.

My advice to you is to read a story and list everything you liked as well as what you disliked.

I do, whiny little thing, it's just you and your friends are shitty, shitty writers. Really, this insistence isn't even funny any longer, it's honestly kind of pathetic. If you want to go into denial, fine, but don't expect me to do more than laugh at you when you confront me with it.

Ha, wow, all of this arguing...but it's old, whatever.

I find this hilarious, have you had any more arguments with that guy?
From: [identity profile] farla.livejournal.com
I don't think so, just the preceding argument on my FFN forums that spilled over to here.

But what if you really do find nothing that you like?...isn't it bad to lie in a review?
