Ch5 Lucki, Reviews
May. 18th, 2007 02:44 pmChapter Five of Lucki is up. Has been since yesterday, actually, but I've been busy contemplating the exact tradeoff of increased mortality rates verses no diseases involving sore throats.
I've been getting really WTFy reviews recently. People correcting my Japanese in an Unoriginality segment referencing stupid Japanese use (ps: It woudn't be kassan-SAMA because Sama is only used when a maid is referring to a lord or something. I doubt anyone is that formal toward their own parents. Wow, really? But I guess it's totally appropriate to refer to yourself in narration as -chan. Nevermind that this is not the actual use of -sama in the first place, or that you don't pair any honorifics with mother/father, or...) People asking me on Lucki, my hundred-and-first story, Have you ever written anything serious, not just for kicks or to make a point, fanficiton or otherwise?
Meanwhile, people actually pointing out real mistakes are being incredibly polite and deferential, as if I'm going to yell at them for noticing a typo.
And, of course, the last chapter of Unoriginality seems to have been a failure, because most of the people weren't able to tell which parts were mocked and which parts were straight. (The character type really annoys me, so I guess I didn't emphasize it enough.)
Then there are the reviews I can't make heads or tails of, like
this is a VERY original idea :3... very. for the first chapter of Reality, where it's impossible to tell if they're being sarcastic, and
This may well be the funniest Pokemon-themed story I've ever read. Or, at least, it is when it's coupled with these reviews you're getting. Incredible reviews, really.
There's a reason why I don't write here anymore. Thank you for justifying me. for Lucki, where I really can't tell what of the dozens of different meanings is the one they intended.
Also, someone new is writing a "How to Write Pokemon Fanfic Guide". Looks bad on several levels, but I'll check back tomorrow, see if my first impression was right, and post then.
