Three days ago - right around midnight, not that it matters, I review a story, Golden Days, Silver Nights by BluKraze. The first chapter involves a note about how they'll take constructive criticism. Interestingly, pretty much every time I've seen that I wind up getting flamed by the author. I give it a review pointing out mistakes and trying to explain myself. I give a lot of suggestions as well as point out he's misusing words and also needs to run a spellcheck.

Today I see it's updated. To put this in perspective, two people have reviewed it, me and VulpixTrainer I check the next chapter.

"Thanks to everyone who reviewed. You guys rock major! On to chapter two now."

So I look.

"The morning dew dripped from the cold pieces of green morning grass, the golden sun hung high above, after just awakening from its long slumper..."

He didn't even spellcheck it and now I'm left wondering why I bothered staying up late to give advice when it would have been more constructive spending a minute reporting him for the spelling errors. Which I still haven't even done.

Oh, and a Me/Tracy crapfic has turned up too. I just flamereviewed it. Which is to say, the story sucks and I didn't try to be nice because I hate the concept. It's called Well, I don't know the name yet! : and it's on an Ali Sketchit's account. Quick, I'll give you three guesses as to what the new character's name is and who she goes after.

The scariest thing? Well, I can't pick one. Is it the completely pointless and plotless story? Is it the summary (This is a story my friend Beefy Baka typed for me. So sweet, and the best romance fic I've read! Read it and review, and I'll tell Kitty how good she is, and who said it!) where she shows us she can't even write her own sue, she has to draft someone else for it? Or is it her profile of horror, containing this gem: I would love it if some of you nice people would like to type me a me/Tracey fic. I would do anything if someone could. Thanks, Kitty (Beefy Baka) she's typing me one, but I'd like a few more. Please AIM if you would do that for me. The shippy name is AtFirstSightShippy (It was love at first sight for us)?

Incidentally, what is it with the pokemon category and making up shipping names for OCs? I mean, you don't see the morons writing Sp/H for their Sparkle/Harry stories because even they aren't dumb enough to think other people are going to flock to their character and start writing new stories about their tru wub.

Simple. See, milotic isn't beautiful. I don't care what the game says on the matter, it isn't. (Besides, since when have sues gone with canon over what they want?) It's an okay-looking thing (a trifle freakish at that) and would probably have a place in many a sue's *complete* team, but it's not good enough to be her main speshul pokemon. It's also not cuddly.

Rapidash isn't really a unicorn, it's a horse with a horn (unicorns are prettier and whiter, which is why they're more popular. Flames are cool, but flaming manes just aren't pretty enough. They don't flow in the wind properly). Plus, like milotic, it's not cuddly. It also has a place on sue teams, but isn't a main pokemon.

The rest of them are fat. It's that simple. There are no fat sues and there are no fat sue companion animals. Pikachu is sometimes popular enough (or else drawn differently enough) for this to be overlooked, but the rest are FAT and as we all know, thinliness is next to sueliness. Sues like the cute but not babyish sort of pokemon, and they also like the sort that can become pretty - which ninetales provides.
(And what self-respecting sue would have a *pink* pokemon? Black is so much kewler.)

I suppose you're right with the first two paragraphs.

Also...

(And what self-respecting sue would have a *pink* pokemon? Black is so much kewler.)

Huh. I thought pink was what those really girly girls went for nowadays. No wonder I've seen a decline in pink-haired Sues.

I'm guessing this is also why Umbreon gets abused by the Stus. On the other hand, it doesn't explain why Houndoom is often overlooked. With its Attack stats, Speed, and the fact that it's a Satanic dog that served the anime's version of the spawn of the Dark Lord itself (Togepi, of course), I figured it would have struck something with the badass Stu (and sometimes Sue) types.

Or maybe it is being used, and I simply haven't noticed. It's been awhile since I've touched a Sue story in which the MS wasn't completely loaded down with legendaries. [shrug]

But I digress.

Small addition

Or wasn't too busy hitting on (insert character here) to really use their Pokemon.

The pink thing is tricky. People who aren't in the subculture can sometimes be a step or two behind the trends, or, as I suspect, confusing subgroups (pink is the first thing that springs to my mind with the frilly perfect concept too, but most kids have outgrown that by the time they start writing sues). Now, the whole goth/emo (there's a distinction, but for the life of me, I keep forgetting it) thing is 'in', so the sues are unhappy, abused, oppressed and scarred - at least, until the third paragraph. And happier sues now tend towards light blue, I think...

No, houndoom isn't too popular, I think. It's definitely used, but it's not the pokemon of choice. Conceptually, it's pretty cool, but its character design leaves a bit to be desired (actually, most of the dark types seem to have that problem - murkrow, for example). Umbreon looks better, plus it evolves from the OMG KAWAII eevee.
