Yeah, I know what you mean. The wimpy emotional behavior and niceness shows up in every woman who's introduced as being cold or independent in a show or book or anything. It also shows up in almost all male characters who start off being bad/cruel, but not to the same degree. I always hated that. There's no worry about doing that with Ice, though, as I can't write romance. Also because she can't make friends with humans due to this minor problem where they go semi-insane and try to kill her.
