Breaking Point
Dec. 14th, 2010 12:00 amNow to go with the buggy archive I've got a buggy computer that keeps dumping me off the internet every five minutes. Ugh. I'm tempted to switch computers when I go home, but Mom would just throw a fit at it.

Breaking Point
I like how visceral this is. The way you describe things is poetic but grounded, the words are pretty without sacrificing clarity, I can clearly picture all the things happening. And I like the give and take of what happens - she's attacked and the King intervenes, then she comes back to help him escape only to be nearly killed, then chance changes things again so she can survive. It's more complex than her simply cutting him down, and it does a better job of getting across just what she had to do.
Her rejection of Jack is great - for most of it, she's doing her job, but that part is her choice and it's a terrible one to have to make. And it punctures Jack's apparent friendliness quite well.
