Thank you for wasting your time with my little story and you're review. If I
planned to do Fanfiction for a living, I'd probably actually care.

I am aware that there are cliches in my story. What I'm trying to say is that
there are a lot of stupid cliches about love that make love look stupid.

And I'm not making up "stupid shit" about Romeo. Most people identify Romeo as
the sixteenth century Edward Cullen, and I'm using that stereotype because I
don't think Drew would be the kind of person to read Romeo and Juliet.

I'm writing fanfiction because I want to share a story, like most people. I
write so people can feel happy. If you don't like it, that's okay.

Thank you for your review, but I really don't appreciate your trolling. Don't
say that you're not trolling, saying "seriously why are you writing this"
sounds like an indirect request to stop writing to most people. That is
defined as trolling in my book. I read on your forum that you said that people
will take your suggestions if you act like this, bt you're stomping on a lot
of people's muses and self esteem. I would be more willing to take suggestions
from a well-rounded review then a troll.

It would be nice if you would put in some tips to help improve the writing.
Yes, I know you put in the grammar tips, but it would be nice if you told me
exactly what you want me to change. Do you want me to erase the "stupid shit"
about Romeo? Would you like me to clarify why I use the cliches? Would you
like me to reword things? What are your standards for your level of acceptable
work? Putting in a few requests to stop writing with a pasted-on grammar
lesson isn't going to do much.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for your review, I appreciate your help and honesty.
I actually did a bit of lurking before I posted here and read some of your
reviews. I was a bit scared to receive one actually, but I'm really glad you
did because you explained dialogue well, which is something I've never
learned.
Anyway, I hope you will continue to read and review, thanks again. :)

...You know, you may want to actually consider Deyanira's comment. It is evident that the overall FFN userbase has gotten a bit more intelligent over the years, as evidenced by the bizarroverse replies. I think it's time you try to pull some tact back from the window you threw it out of. You don't have to degrade your reviews into sweet sugary ones, but you should consider toning it down just a notch. At a certain point, you have to accept that sometimes, people *aren't* angry at the fact you insulted your story. Sometimes people are honest to God angry about the fact that you're incredibly rude about it, and continuing to do so is not going to accomplish anything other than make it take longer for people to accept your advice.

You're welcome to try the theory yourself, of course, and if you actually get results I'll care. But bear in mind the bizarro-verse thing only refers to people who replied politely, not them actually listening. If you follow the links you'll see very few of them actually fix any of the problems.

There's also that the majority of people, at this point, are getting a "polite" review, unless you think the standard parts on grammar count as rudeness because they're not actually ass kissing, and I promise even if you tried that you'd still get people calling it flames. There isn't much corrolation between response and review tone, which is part of why I stopped caring about that years ago.

I'm not referring to the grammar-correction ones. People can whine about them hurting their fragile little egos all they want, but they're phrased neutrally and are objectively correct. I'm not talking about those ones. I'm talking about the ones where you act like a haughty jerk and express ambiguously-targetted statements expressing that the world would be better off if the author died horribly. Because sometimes? You _do_ act like a haughty jerk. Not always, but you do. I approve of the overall goal you're trying to accomplish, but you're not perfect and you can't act like you are. Some of those reviews _are_ overly harsh, and do nothing but make the author angry at you. They're not going to calm down in six months and think huh, maybe she is right, like they will with the grammar ones. You have to accept that some of your hatedom doesn't hate you for the content of your reviews, they hate you for your arrogance.

Except you are, because the vast majority of reviews are just that and that's what people hate me for.

You have to accept that some of your hatedom doesn't hate you for the content of your reviews, they hate you for your arrogance.

And that arrogance is for the content of my reviews. It was arrogant last year when I wasn't doing this in particular. It was arrogant years before when I wasn't reviewing anyone. Seriously pretend for a moment that I have been dealing with this for years and am pretty familiar with the long list of reasons people have or invent over why I'm arrogant.
