Way late to the Hunger Games party, but I have to say as much as this book sucked (especially at the ending), I must have read between some fine lines to enjoy Peeta's character.

“Okay, but within that framework, there’s still you, there’s still me,” he insists. “Don’t you see?”

This line was one of my faves (not joking).

I actually saw as his way of trying to get Katniss to know that they were individuals. That the Game doesn't own them, but that as people, as individuals, they should fight for what they believe (whatever that means is lost to Katniss). I actually imagined him point to her and pointing to himself separately and not grouping them together as a couple. I also looked at the Game pawn thing as his way of saying that he will be a "passive" fighter and will only go after anyone who goes after him. Meh. I have a soft spot for boys that cry and have girly names.

After reading the weird romance crap at the end, I realized I had been duped. -.-

Also, another plot hole/weirdness that drove me beyond bonkers:

Peeta's dad met and married Peeta's mom way before Katiss's mom married Katniss's dad if you use the age of their children as an indication of marriage. (No way the Seam people used birth control (they had a flipping herbalist healer as a "doctor") and no reason for Peeta's folk to use it either.) Which means the baker wanted to "marry" Katniss's mom while he's married to wife number one. Or "married" is code for getting it on and Katniss Prim is actually Peeta's half sister. I mean, the baker really likes Prim. Creepfest.

P.S. You're awesome.
