So you make a big deal about this and tell me to stop writing because I suck. You then come here to continue making a big deal. And now you're "just saying" it's bad to make a big deal and bad to tell people to stop writing, which I haven't even done.

Do you work hard to be such an incredible hypocrite, or are you just naturally gifted?

I just. I want to put this on my wall.

I have a feeling this happened to him when he read that:

There is no way in hell I'm telling someone writing that kind of lazy shit that they maybe might want to possibly if they feel like it one day consider the possibility of maybe asking someone to beta read because they may have a few minor grammar errors, in my opinion at least, not that it was bad or anything!

This is my favorite part.

No, wait, THIS is my favorite part.

(Notice: Farla is the name of a villain OC I made. I noticed after I published my story that there was someone with the account name Farla on this site. Well, I did not model my OC after her. In fact, I had my OC WAY before "Farla" even joined.)

From that fic:

Suddenly, Farla was jabbed by Croagunk. She grabbed her ass (XD) and fell to the floor.

Song Currently Playing: Raid! This happens two more times.

"Scizor, False Swipe! Make sure they go down!" Farla yelled. and then "Scizor! Use False Swipe one more time, and finish it!" she yelled. Canon fail.

Meanwhile, behind three separate bushes, they were waiting for the bossy Farla's next command. This is hilarious both in and of itself and because the only ones she's been "bossing" are her Pokémon. You know, like any other trainer. Little clue towards his propensity for hypocrisy there.

[We interrupt this story for a Who's That Pokemon? segment, followed by a commercial break.]

Who's That Pokemon?

Commercials

...it's Hax orus!

[Commercials over]
Is this for real?

"What are you feeding him?" she asked.

"Hmph. As if you'd know. They're called Rare Candies. They raise a Pokemon's level." Farla scoffed.

"I can't believe you're using items to power up a Pokemon, instead of raising them yourself!" May yelled.

"That's not right!" Ash agreed.

"As if you don't use Pokeblocks or Poffins." Farla countered.
...huh. Little moment of ICness there!

Also, Farla, you come off looking super badass in this! You single-handedly win against an all-star team of Ash, Dawn, Brock, May, Gary, Misty, Tracy, AND Ritchie.

Yeah the timeline there is interesting. He reviewed me before he'd posted the story and the complaint was about an old review buried quite deeply beneath RITE MOAR reviews, and he'd evidently heard enough about me that I somehow got linked with the other person.

Yet somehow this seventeen year old had their Farla OC (from Unova) thought up way before I joined ten years ago.

Wow.

You have no right to lecture them on grammar.

That's one of the most idiotic statements I've read all year.

From: [identity profile] farla.livejournal.com
See, if you'd like to review people regularly, you too could see statements far more idiotic than that on a daily basis. I've even seen that statement but spelled "grammer" a number of times before. All this and more can be yours too!

I find it amusing he gave his self-insert OC a jacket so long that he has to bound about like some demented kangaroo. Or, in his words:

"a white jacket similar to Gary's, but longer (because of this he jumps to transport, rather than running or walking)"

Date: 2011-04-18 10:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] farla.livejournal.com
So now I'm picturing he's in an untied straightjacket and doesn't want the trailing sleeves to get dirty.

I actually reviewed the guy, and they responded to me explaining that their 'OC' Farla was created when they were like six. If you do the math, that occured about a year before Farla joined, but I find it hard to believe.

A parody for Farla. Classic!

I will grant that it's remotely possible. I had a villain OC I daydreamed about when I was like ten. When I was sixteen I actually tried writing parts of a story about her, and while a lot had changed about her in the intervening years, the name was a constant.

This really doesn't read to me like a character someone's been playing with in their imagination since childhood, though. A character like that is a Big Deal to the person writing her, a sort of personal archetype. The all-star team assembling against her and still being unable to take her down is about right, but the rest of it feels off.

Ironically, I'd actually find it more plausible if it was just a claim that it was a coincidence and that he'd been working on it for some time before he knew about me. That it happens to be a year before I even joined smacks of trying too hard to prove it had nothing to do with me.

It's depressing that people like this exist. Just...ugh. "Do you work hard to be such an incredible hypocrite, or are you just naturally gifted?" It's sad because it's true. And then he goes with the more boring answer of not replying to that sentence at all! D:

I remember seeing "Who's That Pokemon?" in stories ll the time...I thought it went away. But I guess not. What I've NEVER seen before are authors pointing out who's voicing who. That's really stupid.

HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS ITS NAURAN. HES GONNA BEAT FARLA (XD)

"I find it amusing he gave his self-insert OC a jacket so long that he has to bound about like some demented kangaroo."

LOL DEMENTED KANGAROO!!

IDK why, but I thought his character was based on the Jan07 person (or whatever his name is). His (Jan07, whose stories I didn't like) and the character's facial descriptions are pretty similar. But, whatever.

I think so, just because I remember a mini burst of outrage over how dumb it was.

A point to this being elaborate trollfic?

"So you got me with cheap shots. You're still weak." Nauran said to her, holding another Poke Ball.

^This is funny because May, Misty and the others that came in did cheap shots to Farla's pokemon too! And Nauran also gave those bat pokemon cheap shots!

Remember kids, it's not dishonorable when a good guy does it!

So I just finished reading it...LOL @ the writing and script. The "best" part is "You're not still butthurt are you?"

Oh yeah, and the A/N's.

But I have a question, why don't people like to see "Music Used" in a story? It helps convey the mood, IMO.

Date: 2011-04-23 09:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] farla.livejournal.com
You're assuming people recognize the music. I like when people link to songs but I'm not going to search it out myself (especially when there's no saying that my taste in it means I'll like what you like). And it's better to convey mood by writing that into your story than to try to find the perfect song so someone else can convey it for you.
