Ch7 of Taikyoku on FFN. You know, I haven't decided what their school trip should involve, beyond that it's going to be several days in length and needs to be at the end of a relatively long drive. Anime tradition is hot springs, but that's more of a visual trope and I'm pretty sure the only justifiable split would be Derse/Prospit (Although one can just barely justify a four way split by both color and gender). And while Droog spending the whole time trying to sneak into the opposite side's baths has its appeal, I'm pretty sure he's not that stupid. Slick is the one who should be involved, but I really can't see how.

The next chapter is probably going to be about the dance. What should happen during the dance besides spiked punch related shenanigans, which I believe were mandated back in 1995?

Fox Games is also posted there now. Deleted the other Creatures fic to keep my pretty 111. I need to stop doing one shots, or at least ones that can be posted on FFN.

It suddenly occurred to me that SPerl isn't an ensemble fic and I've been thinking about it all wrong. I've been stressing over how to balance it when the way I think about it is mostly centered around the main character, and the obvious answer is that there's no reason it can't be.

Hey, I've read the reviews! That wasn't my point! My point was that it must have been intentional on Farla's part, because it was interesting.

I don't really think it's that. She just said, "Go ahead and kill me," and Katniss responded, "Those berries kill painlessly." It's a bit of a logical leap from that to Katniss's plan, especially if you're in despair. I think most people would assume Katniss was telling them to kill themselves.

God, I'm tying myself in knots here. I mean the Hunger Games reviews. So yes, I know that is was a mistake for Collins to write Katniss perceiving Foxface that way, and wasn't quite sure why Farla wrote it like that (because it's canon for Katniss to do that, silly me.) Heh, I've got a ways to go before I can rely on myself to interpret properly. I don't support the view of Foxface as an animal, for sure. Sorry for not expressing myself properly.

It's difficult when you're writing fic of a problematic source, because you have to strike a balance between being true to the canon and not coming off as endorsing the problematic aspects. I'm probably having some issues with that in my own Hunger Games fic.

If you're wondering, I think Foxface only eats like an animal in a certain transitive sense: she eats like a starving person, and starving people eat like animals. And Katniss holds it against her because that's how Katniss is.

Well, she's also animalistic in the clumsy sense...she spends the night in the tree, comes down and isn't able to grip the food because her hands are too stiff from the freezing night, so she's using them like paws. Once Katniss has a metaphor in her head she will not let it drop.

^_^ Yeah, it's unreliable narrator. Katniss isn't really self-aware enough to end with realizing how much was just her perception, so it's less clear than it could be.
