Plantings, Review, Reality

I've planted a raspberry and a lowbush blueberry. The raspberry has been mulched. I want to mulch my highbush blueberries, but I'm not sure, since I want the lowbush blueberry to spread and I'm not sure if it grows directly out or if it pops up at intervals, like crabgrass.

The watermelon seeds I planted were not all duds, like I though, and have instead all germinated (Took them forever...). Two have outgrown their pots and need to be planted soon (I need to put the soaker hose in before I can plant anything, though...)

Finally finished reviewing poor Keleri's story that, again, you should all go read provided you are not sleep-deprived stupid like me and can handle complex sentences.

I'm thinking of posting Reality. I've got stuff for it floating around in my head, and given the difficulty of writing Ice, I'm not exactly updating regularly anyway. Plus my little brother is on a made-up pokemon kick... Any suggestions on where I could collect a good number of varied characters? (Or anyone who wishes to submit one themselves?) I should be able to include just about anything.

Ooh, varied characters... well, I've seen what roleplay communities are like and I've been there for asking for characters on FFnet, and they tend to follow all the same themes... x.o I'll submit one if you want it... just remind me what idea Reality was...? ^^;;

Well, by 'varied' I don't so much mean 'good and well-developed'. More covering a wide spectrum of the standard OCs - the anthros, the friends-with-their-pokemon, the star trainers, the kids with the eight made up pokemon that by the way are stronger than all the legendaries combined... Which isn't to say an uncringeworthy character wouldn't be appreciated (although if you submit a character, I should warn you there's a chance they won't live long, and that I'm not planning on using any of them as main characters. I want them for authenticity, for lack of a better explanation).

Reality is a mishmash of all the things you should never do in a fanfic, basically. The pokemon world starts to become real. Only things don't work out in the happy perfect way they usually do, because you see, the pokemon world starts to become real.

Ohh, I see. I could give you my text file of submitted characters that I received for Blackbird if you want ideas--it's a pretty good cross-section of standard OCs. =]

I think that the best way to collect a lot of interesting characters for your story would probably be allowing people to submit thier own. Of course, then you'd possibly have overpowered team problems, since this is the fiction about people who've played the video games in the pokémon world, right? And goodness knows we all probably have our pet pokémon that we'd like to see come into play. Other than that, perhaps it would be best to take a look at some of the people that you know in real life and think about how they'd handle the pokémon world in "reality." You'd have the people who'd try to blow through it with AR's and by leveling up one pokémon, the people who breed like crazy to try to get a powerful pokémon and dump all their "failed" experiments out of their party as soon as they can, and the people who just sort of wander around, catching stuff and coming up with themed teams and the like. If you know any other pokémon players in real life, looking at their habits could be helpful too. Presumably, a chance to journey in the pokémon world would attract all sorts, even those that think that pokémon is stupid. After all, the poémon world has all sorts of options, even if you don't want to train (being able to leave the house at ten is one perk, and if you were to translate the option to journey to the pokémon world at ten over to the real world, then you could have a lot of different reasons for people embarking on journeys.)

Yeah, sorry about that, I'm rather long-winded. I'd also be honored to submit a character myself...would you prefer that I make an inordinately long comment here or send you an e-mail?

Oh, overpowered teams and super pokemon aren't a problem. If anything, I'm worried I won't get enough of them if I just ask in the story, since readers might be unwilling to submit their more sueish creations.

The point about the sort of perfectionist pokemon trainers isn't one I'd thought of. Hm...

You can submit the character however's easiest. But, I should warn you I'm probably not going to use them for main characters and they might just be killed.

Oh, I mentioned Reality quite a long time about...back in June of last year, in the second month of having this livejournal.

And I can probably use pretty much any character you think up...but like I warned Keleri and Negrek above, probably not as a main character and not necessarily going to live long. (I should probably get to work writing up a character submission sheet and disclaimer for this...)

Admittedly the disclaimer probably won't stop people from being pissed off that their precious Erik Darksoul was mauled by his umbridoom when he challenged another character to a pokemon battle, but I'm still going to try to negate some of the screeching and wailing.

Well, I think I'll wait for a sheet to sign up. You have no idea how much fun I have filling those things out...

I just got an idea that I thought you might like...how about something to do with the fact that you can't reset the world like you can your game? We all save before a big battle or legendary capture or something and then reset so our win record stays perfect. It would be interesting to see what happens to people who too late realize that they cannot have any "do-overs."
