I love how pretentious this person is while discussing the subject of whether or not one should capitalize the names of magical monsters in a children's video game. Because comparing fanfic authors' styles to what you believe to be obscure or high-brow literature (especially without taking into consideration historical/cultural context or the significance of style in relation to author intent in your examples) doesn't make you look like you're trying to be intelligent at all. After all, as everyone knows, Pokémon fanfiction is just as serious and intelligent a topic as ancient Greek political theory, and people automatically win debates just by namedropping instead of providing thoughtful analysis. *sage nod*
Oh fandom. Your priorities are an endless source of amusement.
On the other hand, I guess if one brings up things like Shakespeare and Swift and their love of sex, violence, sex, bodily functions, and more sex, fanfiction's probably more high-brow than what people consider to be high-brow. But Shakespeare and Swift are unfortunately not in this guy's equation because that would be too easy I guess. :(
You don't understand, I'm the one taking it way too seriously, they're just being the calm voice of reason with no stake in the matter whatsoever about my insane fascist vendetta against the innocent authors.
I'm also forever fond of how you are forcing these poor defenseless writers to do your bidding. Coercing them, even. Your cyber-bullying ways know no boundaries, for there is nothing sacred, not even our God-given right to capitalize a whole flock of wingull.
Ah, but he doesn't want it and instead PM'd me about how it's more mature for you to just ignore the haters, etc. Telling him to put it into the former thread.
