Almost killed the dumb cat. We learned that he doesn't seek shelter and he also doesn't make any noise to indicate he's right outside, he just stays there in the cold all night. Despite this we're still letting him out because he's still scared of litterboxes.

Some girls came by and were confused to see the smart cat in the window, because apparently they're trying to track down some strays someone else has been feeding.

"Oh, that can't be her," I said, "she hates people."

"It's a stray cat terrified of anyone getting near it," they said.

"Oh. In that case it's definitely my cat you've been feeding. Sorry about that."

And pudding cat continues to be a fat fat pudding cat. She moves with the majesty of a whale.

Oh cats, why do you be so bad. There was a post going around about how to make an outdoor cat shelter out of a storage bin and insulation, would he be scared of that?

Probably not scared, I'm pretty sure he's only shunning the warm area under the porch and giant bush of windbreaky goodness because it isn't right next to the front door.

I don't think I'd want an actual bin, though. Maybe just throw some plastic sheeting together where he lies by the side of the house. There's wild animals around and anything that's a properly sealed hideout could end up trapping him.
