2)Do the legendary pokemon care about your character? •Because they're going to save the world? So from the start this is very not good.
5)Does your character have or gain super powers? Interspecies telepathy and healing. •Are they vital to the story or could your character achieve the same things without them? She'd be dead pretty quickly without them. Or she'd have managed to avoid getting into trouble in the first place. but, knowing her, I doubt it. •Was your motivation for giving these powers that you thought it was cool? Guilty as charged. Of course, that was a long time ago, but all the same.
6)Does your character hold the same basic beliefs as you?
13)Does your character possess the same physical features you have? Or, at least, the ones I had when I was her age.
15)Is your character named after you in some way (name, penname, middle name, etc)? This alone should have been sufficient warning to me from the start.
18)Did anything happen to the character's parents? Only to her Dad, so she's not an orphan or anything like that. It still probably bears mentioning, since it's a plot point I threw in at the last moment because the fancy struck me.
4)Does the trainer always win battles?
7)Does your trainer find rare pokemon? Well... rare pokémon find her. But in a way, that's even worse.
11)Does your trainer claim to hold views on pokemon that are at odds with what could be expected, or even contradicted by their actions? Someone does eventually call her out on this, thankfully.
So, you see? Not exactly a train wreck, but not something that has any good excuse for existing, either.
