The long awaited second chapter of Tragic Melodrama, The Chronicles of Woetwo, went up yesterday. It's my own contribution to the renowned and sacred tradition of mewtwo torture.

Additionally, the nineteenth chapter of Unoriginality: OT, Verbose, is also up. Those who had the foresight to put me on alert have been apologized to and indirectly warned of the horror that awaits. Those who didn't deserve what they get.

I'd also like to thank www.dictionary.com for the part it played in writing that chapter. I couldn't have done it without you, Dictionary.com, and your wonderful thesaurus search feature. Thank you.

How many people do this?

About Verbose...is the 'moral' not to overdescribe concepts readers are already familiar with? I don't think any Pokefic writers on FF.net actually do this...except for Ri2.

The moral isn't about things readers are familiar with in particular, but that an excess of description can wind up being more confusing. Description is supposed to be painting a picture in a reader's head, and sometimes people forget that dumping an extra three buckets of paint on top does not improve that image.

FFN is pretty good about not overdescribing (especially in comparison to some of the other pokemon sites) but they do have a tendency to misuse words or try to say something with five words that would be better said in one or to use synonyms that are actually less fitting than the original word.

Because sometimes it's just a black dog chasing a white cat, not a ochre four-legged mammal chasing a sprinting ivory feline.
