So new classes have started. In one class we did introductions that involved telling about yourself, like your favorite book.

We go around the room. I recognize some of the books, generally associating them with recent bestsellery titles. I don't recognize others.

Midway through I go and say my book.

The teacher pauses and says she doesn't recognize the title.

We continue going down the class and I keep thinking about what she said. Because it's not just this class. She teaches more than one class, and she's taught before this. She must have done this a lot.

And she commented that she didn't know the title. I mean, there are so incredibly many books out there. I never think anything of it when I hear a title I don't recognize.

But she said she didn't know the title. And only to me, as if she recognized all the others. And as if she was used to recognizing all the others.

As if everyone always said the same books.

It's Philosophy. The opinions weren't exactly political but weren't exactly not. It's kind of weird when people agree that it's okay for leaders to lie to their people. I mean, in context, if you've got a dictator who rules by right of giving his people an okay life, then yeah, sure, it's okay if he lies to people (I mean, what are you going to do about it? And it's not like he was elected or something) but then when people agree and say that's true now too, but we're a democracy not a tyranny, so...

And yes, we haven't. Are you having spring break at the regular time? Maybe we should get together then?

Philosophy class sounds really amazing. I mean, I only hear about such classes on TV.

I have spring break in March, if that's what you mean by "the regular time."

It's kind of slow paced, but it's a good idea.

Yes. Which week? 19th?
