Posted chapter nine of Unoriginality: OT. It's about an author trying to make a character that's not a sue by following advice I've seen in reviews.

Take that as you will.

Also finally got to work on the next chapter of Ice. It involves violence, because violence is fun, especially when it fucks with preconceived notions. I have part of it typed and all of it written, so, unless something comes up as it so undoubtedly will, I think I'll be done by Sunday.

I assume you mean 'the mean reviewer' bit? That's really meant more as a joke-ish thing, because that's how I'm referred to (in livejournals or other places where I see people talking to each other), and that's usually all anyone takes away from what I say - that I'm just being mean.(And people who email me are also usually surprised when I don't respond with an apology) It's not really much of an ego thing - if I was actually good at this, I'd be able to get people to understand what they did wrong and change. Since I can't, it's really more of a failure.

And the story really *is* meant to be a thinly disguised bunch of lessons. The first chapter was written to let off steam, the second out of curiosity, and all else as advice/story-essays. I'm really not much of a humor writer. I think I am too blunt, but I judge by the reviews how much people get the point, and they seem to miss it if I'm more subtle, so I write bluntly and often have author notes at the beginning and end explaining.

I'm glad to hear you think Ice will be interesting. Barring further events and my procrastination, the chapter should be out soon. Feel free to review brutally if it's not to your liking! ^^

(And what exactly does the subject line mean, anyway?)

I know that it was perhaps a joke but still I feel that when someone includes a reference to themselves in a chapter in a complimentary fashion (as someone who is listened to and the main character changes her stuff because of that person)highlights the person pandering to their ego- a disease we all seem to suffer.
The title is reference that the most important thing to people is self-gratification of their own ego.

I will look forward to seeing Ice part 2- as I mentioned before you seem to have some very interesting themes running through it.

Yeah, but no one does listen to me. Catherine Summerstorm is trying to avoid getting a bad review by making a token effort to avoid a few things (something I've actually seen happen a few times when people repost stories), and Raven Moonbeam was following everyone else's advice. Both are just what I actually see happening.
