Went to visit relatives yesterday, which is why I didn't finish the chapter. I managed to play Fire Red for several hours, but forgot to save before the battery died. So I really accomplished nothing that day.
The people aren't important, so instead I'll tell you that my aunt has two white dogs. Very big, very purebred, very loud. They're kept out in the back behind a metal fence. I went to see them. They barked when they saw me, they barked when I approached, they barked when I stopped. I'm really not good with dogs. Hi-I-want-to-play bark and Hi-I'm-going-to-kill-you bark sound pretty much the same. But there was a fence, and I'd walked them last year so I sorta knew they weren't that dangerous. They stopped barking when I let them smell my hands through the fence, and one pressed up against the side to have his/her neck rubbed (brother and sister, I can't tell which is which). They have lovely, thick fur and look very pretty and wolfish. But they also have very, very big teeth and very loud barks. I'm glad I don't have one, even though they are nice.
They also have two cats, one of which has beautiful eyes. They're golden cat eyes, but they also have a hint of blue and green. It's just gorgeous. I had trouble getting a good look since he's a good-natured cat (and eye contact is a dominant-aggressive sort of thing for cats) so he kept closing his eyes and because when you touch a cat's head (to try to tilt the eyes up) they close their eyes and because when you scratch a cat (so that he doesn't get upset about the tilting his head part) they close their eyes. But once you get a good look, they're incredible.
We got rid of one of the kittens. She was smaller than her sister because she was having some mild intestinal problem, and the white on her face looked like a smudge, kind of like if you have white paint on your finger and run it across fur. Her sister, who has a white blaze instead of smudge, grew so she was a bit longer and completely dominant. She would climb ontop Smudge and lick and lick. Very cute.
Blaze seems to have taken her sister vanishing in stride. I guess because she's not nervous anymore. But she wants to play and roughhouse more with me, which can be painful.
I love having kittens. Blaze purrs when she sees me, she purrs when I pick her up, she purrs when I pet her, she purrs when she jumps in my lap...it's very nice to have something that happy you're alive.
...I wish I had *my* kitten...
The two fosters are still twitchy, although they're marginally better. They're terrified of any sudden movement. It's weird. I can be petting them and just shift my weight and suddenly it's like they just realized there's a big scary thing touching them, and they bolt. It's so sad. They'll run away and I'll hold my hand out. They rub up against furniture and watch me, and they'd really like to be pet, but they're too scared.
My girlcat is having a breakdown of some sort. She's growling constantly and at night, when we keep her in, she starts wheezing and hacking like she's trying to cough something up after about ten minutes of growling. I don't know why she's so anxious. She's got everyone scared of her, and she's the biggest, strongest, healthiest cat in the house. I hope we get something done with the fosters soon.
And I'm starting to get worried my oldest can has arthritis. Hope not, but...
I got my first review accusing me of writing a sue today, which makes me happy. Sadly it was more of a 'your character fits what you're talking about' than a real complaint (why do people like the story? Why???) and it's now on his favorite list. I feel scared. Sometimes I think it'd be interesting if FFN showed you how many favorite lists a particular story is on, but at times like this I wonder if it might disturb me.
Obsidian Blade has a C2 community called Pokecache that's for good OT fiction. Not much there yet, but still a good thing.
I was invited as staff for GFA Great Fics Archives by Simply Sora and Original Trainer Stories by Facia. The names of the two are somewhat self-explanatory. Both have a reasonable amount of stories, although the quality could be better.
And now I stop procrastinating and go type chapter two.
