Updated poll. Now the choice is between April and October. Vote soon!

(I don't know why I didn't think of October earlier. I guess I didn't want to be burned out for NaNo, but the whole Halloween connection is hilarious, and honestly reviewing a lot tends to give me ideas.)

Going to see if I can get the next chapter of PR done by the end of the month.

Voted. My reasoning: "But Farla! Think of all the hilarious attempts at horror you'll get all over October!"

Which is to say: October. You know you really want to.

Admittedly there's a risk that it's be Christmasfic 2: Darker and Edgier. Are Halloween fics anywhere near as common, though?

I don't think quite as common, but they are quite popular.

Just to be clear, "It's Halloween so I'm writing horror", not "It's Halloween so I'm writing about Halloween", right?

They're just kind of sharing themes and not endless retreads of Ash and Dawn/Paul and Dawn mannequins awkwardly failing to interact or do anything at all interesting beyond random misogyny?

You get both. Badly-written horror mostly, I think, though I believe it's not terribly uncommon to get Halloween party/costume/trick-or-treat kinda stuff as well. I don't pay much attention to canon characters, but pretty much any holiday is an excuse to hook them up somehow.

"I didn't recognize you because you were in a mask, but now I understand we really get along great and you are my true love! Let's share candy!"

At least it will be counterbalanced by the bad horror. Different types of bad balance each other out, right?

You could always go ahead and try April, then October? You know, get a feel for them both? See what you like?

...Is it working? Do I get two NaRes this year!? :D

Okay, I guess that'd be pretty cruel to you. I am going to go with April. It would suck for you to go through all this debating over which would be a better alternative to awful Christmasfic, only to expose you to awful Halloweenfic, which is probably just a watered down version of the former.

Well, I was the one who brought up October. I think the Halloweenfic is being exaggerated. Do you know there is actually like no horror getting posted? Seriously! I checked the archives. There's only about three hundred stories, and last October, less than ten horror fics. Interestingly, there are also 666 tragedy stories at the moment.
