The more I think about this the more I actually want to do it.

Is there any good repository of different fan sburb games I could use to get a baseline?

I was thinking of octopi.

The romance/relationship explanation is extremely confusing though, since I don't know much about physics and it sounds over-complicated. x_x

Oh god yes. I'm reading through the thread and half of it is people saying that and the inventor insisting it has to be used and going on about all the other stuff they've done using it they haven't posted yet.

Octopi, huh? That sounds intriguing, and also innovative, as I suggested. I would like a reptilian species better, but octopi have similarities with squiddles, so that works too! How would that work though? Would they be amphibious or would everything be underwater?

And ugh, yeah that guy is crazy. A few pages in he flips out and starts swearing at people, which caused a moderator to have to moderate the thread. Said moderator was very annoyed and there was lots of drama. They seem to calm down after a few pages, though. Still hoping Nestbound uses a less complex gender system, making a gender/caste for every single type of subatomic particle is just absurd and has no logical connection to bug things.

Loving all the other stuff people are talking about in the thread, though.

The hat the species is going to wear is getting along with everyone, which reptiles don't fit well with. And I'm going with amphibious. Octopi already can move out of water for periods.

I am inexplicably fond of them.

I could totally justify it as having to do with the squiddles but really I just want to hug an octopus. They look so huggable.

Sometimes they hug back! And then you end up with painful-looking sucker-hickies all over your arms!

Yes, I have seen this on video.

I have cats, I'm used to affection maulings. At least with the octopus it's curiosity and not a demand I produce food.

I dunno, to me it looked kind of like an attempt to see if the hug recipient was food.

...As long as it goes with "not food" in the end I'd still take it. They're smart, I'm sure next time we hug it'd remember.

They are squishy cute and therefore can be forgiven anything.
