Chapter Nine of my ongoing offense against the fanfic gods is up! Soooooooo read that I guess?

Speaking of fanfic I am tempted to write sympathetic Eridan fic just so there is sympathetic Eridan fic in existence that isn't creepy apologism. Or more sympathetic Vriska fic just because Vriskaaaaaaaa D::::

And I am terrified new updates will change Snowman's character and people won't write fic I want about her. Because I rely on others to write about Snowman. I am terribly dependent. It's not like Vriska, where people can think whatever they like about Vriska and I will write ALL OF THE FIC about how they're wrong if I must.

(Although if this is really her just death I will not be happy. I was just barely accepting it until I saw other people and how it'd get interpreted as proof Vriska's stupid, selfish, and to blame for absolutely everything.)

Now that I think of it, Aeromachia also wrote a pretty good one. It also features Rose being terrifying and awesome.

Not sure if I'd class that one as sympathetic, though it is pleasing.

It's basically the only fic written at that time that made me not hate him, because it makes it so inescapably obvious what a kid he is, and he's mixed up in all the same ways that make Vriska so sympathetic. By the end I was rooting for him to live even though I still thought he was pretty much a terrible person.

That's just my reaction to it, though.

It doesn't try to explain his actions so much as wallow in his lack of excuse for it - though there's definitely sympathy found in how abjectly miserable he is.

I'm thinking of the delicious middle ground that is saying Eridan had reasons for what he did without the "and therefore it was justified and Feferi should have put out" followup. It always seemed to me that Eridan's quadrant issues played a major part in his breakdown beyond just Nice Guyism, it's just that doesn't mean it's anyone else's fault.
