Why I don't mock people for missing the obvious

"Oh, yeah, and the Playstation finally broke."

"What? But - Then how am I supposed to play Final Fantasy Seven? Wait, how were you playing it?"

"On the PS2."

"...but it doesn't save."

"Well it saves on Playstation cards. I tried putting one in the PS2 and it works."

"My god, we're idiots."

"Yeah."

Basically we never tried it. The PS2 came with its own save card, so I and my brother assumed that the previous version save card wouldn't work.

I mean, if the new version card is different enough that you can't save FF7 on it, it follows that the old version card is different enough that it wouldn't work on the PS2.

Of course, once you know, it's incredibly obvious and of course we should have tried it.
