That was fast

So this morning I got a PM from PsiUmbreon pointing out, reasonably, that double accounts are against the rules.
***************
You should avoid using duplicate accounts because it's not allowed on this site and using more than one account leads to all accounts except one being banned. So to avoid being banned you should stick with one account from now on, okay? Don't care whether it's this one or icemew but stop using one of them.
***************
My first encounter with the modding team besides the whole Yam-Yam fiasco I was on the sidelines to. Completely level-headed and reasonable.
I get here for lunch and discover I have been permanently banned, forever and ever, for having dual accounts.
Personally, I just wish I knew why. I'm sure it'd be amusing. Connected to the Yam-Yam fiasco (or something similar), or someone mad about what I used the forums for?
Edit: Just looked at the times. I probably shouldn't have argued with Zephyr Flare about her totally impartial treatment of the Yam-Yam fiasco.

Date: 2007-04-16 07:13 pm (UTC)Which Yami Ryu fiasco, though? That one a while back where she was all angry and left the forums and stuff, or is there something more recent thanks to Zephyr Flare's ever-magical post deletion habit?

Date: 2007-04-16 08:37 pm (UTC)Well, after Zephyr Flare's OMG EVERYONE SHUT UP YOU'RE BEING MEAN TO YAMYAM-CHAN!!! bit, icemew was PMed and so she wsa PMing Yami and Zephyr back for a bit. In Zephyr's case, icemew tried to explain stuff like "if you yell at other people for attacking Yami, when Yami started the fight and the insults AND no one was even talking about her in the first place, then, although I'm totally absolutely sure you're not actually biased, and that it's all a misunderstanding, you should understand how it might appear, to some people, as possibly just slightly biased." I'm not exaggerating, I actually had that many qualifiers when I tried to explain it.
Zephyr didn't take it well.
Coincidentally, I was banned sometime between 10:00 and 1:00 today. At 1:00, Zephyr was "last on" at twelve.
This is not, of course, bias. It only appears to our little minds to be bias because we can't see all the behind the scenes stuff, probably Yam-Yam sending Zephyr a PM saying "OMG it's that bitch who swore at me!" and Zephyr replying with "OMG it's that bitch who tried to say I'm biased!"

Date: 2007-04-16 10:10 pm (UTC)Man, I like how everyone in the Lucki thread at Serebii went "We doan' a-ppreciate yer kin' aroun' here *squint*" after you made your dramatic reveal. And that darkpersian character taking it all personally? Priceless.

Date: 2007-04-16 10:25 pm (UTC)Well, DarkPersian had a bit invested, as they were starting to go around as a "serious" reviewer, yet their example of a good review was to my story, and they'd been praising it (as well as giving the "description!" advice I like to bitch about) pretty highly. They were upset and consequently overreacting/misreading. It's understandable.
That said, the "omg based on my story! You jerk!" bit was...special.

Date: 2007-04-17 12:44 am (UTC)Too bad you got banned. Serebii isn't loading for me right now, but yesterday I found the Lucki discussion very interesting to read. :/

Date: 2007-04-17 02:11 am (UTC)(And part of the theory of Lucki is that reviewers won't criticize when something is wrong, but they can't explain what. Lucki avoids stock complaints, forcing them to either work it out on their own or criticize without being able to explain - cue OMG FLAMER U R NOT CONSTRUCTIVE and a chastened reviewer who will never dare do anything but repeat easy, stock complaints.)
Oh, not just banned, the thread is locked too, although a few people managed to reply before then. The banning I don't mind so much, although I'd have liked to stick around to answer questions (if nothing else, to beat into DarkPersian's head that their story was not involved in any way, shape, or form). The locking does annoy me - even if I can't reply or even defend myself, I still would rather people were allowed to comment.
DarkPersian's attempt at explanation
Date: 2007-04-17 06:48 am (UTC)First, I do not need it "beaten into my head" that my story was not the direct influence for this. I realize that. However, the general references that match mine, as well as the fact that my reviews were part of the parody, led to initial shock that caused some not-so-intelligent words to flow from my keyboard. I am thinking more level-headed now and realize most of my comments were stupid, and I can admit that.
Once again, I know my fic was not involved in this matter, but it still stings a bit when a) it matches the genre perfectly, and b) my reviews were part of this whole matter
Second, I am not an expert on animal/Pokemon psychology, so my reviews never touched on that aspect of the story. I basically touch upon the basic technical issues (grammar, description, etc.) and in that respect Lucki was well-written.
Clearly, despite being above n00b status, I am still sorely lacking in both writing and reviewing ability. I am looking to improve in both respects, so I hopefully can redeem myself.
Re: DarkPersian's attempt at explanation
Date: 2007-04-17 04:46 pm (UTC)And based on comments generally, I realize that people are going to be more prone to seeing the story as a near-parody of theirs because it's likely few have even read the original two that inspired this, which it matches a lot more closely and has a number of deliberate allusions - the nonsense syllable names, the dynamics of Lucki's interactions with her pokemon, and the events of the first few chapters are all closely based off one story. Another character's name and the idea of their backstory comes from the other story.
Second, I am not an expert on animal/Pokemon psychology, so my reviews never touched on that aspect of the story.
Eh, nonissue. Part of Lucki is that people just assume things are fine and don't think about the side-characters. Lucki really is emotionally abusive toward Flare. She criticizes him for collapsing after winning a battle against a water type. It's just that no one thinks of the pokemon as characters of their own, so Lucki's comment is interpreted as if it was to herself, not as if Flare is a thinking individual. It's not a matter of being a better or worse writer/reader or a criticism directed at anyone in particular, because pretty much everyone in the fandom does that.
